PROOFREAD ONCE sorry :(
Word count: 5.3kY/n knew what hurt felt like.
To her it was the constant gnawing at her insides, never stopping. The sinking feeling in her stomach when she saw something that reminded her of that someone special. Her breaths growing heavy reliving those memories.
Feeling hollow, as if she was the shell of someone who she used to be.Laying in her bed was the worst, she wanted the room to swallow her whole, to take her under and never let her back out. How was she supposed to go to sleep when he wasn't there to turn off the lights? So she didn't sleep, just hours of laying awake in her room trying to ignore the bright light from her ceiling.
The water in her shower would turn cold from standing in the hot water too long, she felt so numb just staring at the shower wall. It was like every emotion from her person was sucked out when he left.
She tried to smile, but there was no point anyway, there was no happiness left in her person. It's not like they didn't try to fix their relationship.. they tried before ultimately giving up.
"Let's fix this.. please.. I love you"
It was the 'almost' of their relationship. It haunted her. Ghosting over her brain when she laid in bed at night. Staring up at the blank ceiling, eyes flooded with replays of the memories. They almost made it. They tried to fix what was broken. But like a broken mirror that's been glued back together, you could still see the hairline cracks.
She was covered in a persistent rainy cloud, storming over her. The feeling of drowning was omnipotent in her head, suffocating.
The word forever was meant for memories not people. Y/n realized that long ago. But it still hurt. It hurt to the point where she was under a paralyzing shock, just there. Her body was physically there to fill the halls of school, to sit in the chair until they called her name for graduation, to stand at her hostess stand, to lay in her bed, to drive in her car; but she was no longer there mentally, emotionally, only physically.
Everything hit y/n at night. Her cries filled her empty room, occupying the space he used to fill. It came in waves.. she was giving a forced smile one second and crying the next. The waves crashing down on her, soaking her in her own sorrows.
Some say water is the most powerful force on earth, some say it's love. Y/n knew it was hurt. It was bruise on her heart, throbbing at every beat. Nothing felt more real than her pain; her anguish; her fallen soul.
The two had shared trauma, but not even their trauma could bond them together anymore. It wasn't always like this... once upon a time y/n and Eddie were happy. So very happy. Best friends who decided they liked each other, then deciding they loved each other.
It was beautiful. Dancing on glass; graceful and delicate.
The echos of their laughter filled the night sky, their bed rooms, their cars, anywhere they were was filled with love.It was like a rose- a little seedling that grew into a beautiful flower that only got more beautiful with age; but like a flower... it died, wilting away for the wind to blow the fragments elsewhere.
Trying to hate him was even harder. She couldn't. She wanted eddie back, but it was clear he wasn't willing to try again. Their friends had tried to salvage their friendship, but not even that could be saved. Their 11 years of knowing each other, liquidated in a matter of moments. 11 years of memories, play dates, study dates, ice cream, concerts, and love; gone.
She tried everything, she threw herself into various different hobbies but nothing was the same without Eddie by her side.
She missed his friendship more than anything. She missed his laugh, his smile, his hair, the way his arms held her, how he smelled, everything.
