The Start of a War [39]

A loud yawn was heard as the last of the three boys woke up.

Surprisingly, it was Cyrus who had slept in for a few minutes. Seiko greeted him as he sat on the end of the bed, resting and waiting on the two others to head to the lobby. After a few minutes, Cyrus was on one end of the room, brushing his hair in the mirror. Behind him, on the other end of the room, Pico and Seiko were talking, rather quietly.

Seiko then cleared his throat, turned to Pico and said, ''Pico... There's something that I think I'm ready to share with you — about... how I died. I trust you!'' Pico's eyes sparkled, having his curiosity peak. Seiko smiled and continued, explaining with little to no detail; He thought back to what happened that frighteningly chilly morning. There Seiko was... sitting on a couch with his sister, watching television. Their parents had just left to go somewhere as Seiko and his sister's older brother were to watch over them. For whatever reason, he was jealous of his younger brother. He despised him, deeply. That's when it was time. The oldest brother had asked his younger brother to help him with something in the kitchen. As Seiko walked in, his brother didn't hesitate to stab his own kin. Blood poured from young Seiko's stomach as his older brother held in a maniacal laugh. Unfortunately, before he could even think to hide the body... Young Nanako took the knife from his brother's chest, emotionlessly piercing it through her other brother's chest. The poor girl didn't know what it meant to die so she thought she was simply showing her brother that it wasn't nice to do what he did. When their parents got home, both brothers were on the floor, dead. Nanako was sent away, isolated on Nahrahka Island where she was looked after by its leader. That was it. All Seiko truly remembered before becoming a zombie...

''...and when I woke up, the house was abandoned and my brother was nowhere in sight. Princess Alexandra allowed me to live in the palace after that and well, you know the rest!'' Seiko finished. Pico hugged Seiko and exclaimed, ''I'm so sorry, Seiko! No kid should have to go through that...!'' Seiko gave him a reassuring smile, pulling from the hug, ''Hey, it's okay! I probably wouldn't have become a knight in training if it weren't for that.'' the two kept at it as Cyrus was just about done getting ready. 

Before turning around, he looked at the two through the mirror. He saw how much Pico had meant to Seiko and hung his head, sorrowfully. He then shook his head slightly, remembering their plans. Finally turning around, he followed the other two to the lobby where the girls were waiting.

Suddenly, Yashin fast walked over to them, asking, ''Have you guys seen Jinx? They aren't in their room and haven't shown up anywhere, gone without a word!'', ''Well, they usually just do what they want, right...? So maybe Jinx is just exploring Khoju again! I doubt they wanted to join us today anyway.'' Pico said, trying to reassure her which worked as she said under her breath, ''You're right...'' and then regrouped near the lobby's sitting area. But just then, a familiar voice rang out from the entrance. ''Hi, guys! I got you some new clothes! - Since yours are kinda old and stinky lookin', no offence!'' Sweet joked as she was holding a pile of different clothes. As she gave them to the squad and they thanked her, she said with a wide smile, ''Consider this a gift from the people! Your help is beyond appreciated!'' she finished as she had to rush off to help out somewhere else.

After quickly changing, the squad loved their new, snazzy outfits as Akarui was the last to come out of the bathroom. Jiyu shouted impatiently, ''Hurry up, Akarui! I bet you look great, just come on out!'' Akarui finally stepped out, nervous. Indeed, she looked great but what was mostly a surprise is the fact she had cut her hair into a bob. Linette was the first to break from being speechless, ''Wow, you look amazing!'' as Pico added, ''and badass, like a true fighter!''. Akarui thanked them, flustered, as they started to leave the apartments.
