The fog cleared more and more, the higher they trailed the mountains. Navigating through the trees, bushes, rocks and other small obstacles.
Yashin, Jiyu, Pico, Linette, Akarui, and Seiko were all heading to a small cottage in the mountains that, according to Sircadias, housed a delusional man who knows a lot about Itazura. They decided to all go together, given how important this guy sounded. Pico was walking normally by now and Akarui hadn't had any coffee that day, so things were pretty calm.
It had been raining the previous night so the dirt was squelchy, dirtying the shoes of each person striding on the mountains path that day. Footprints were left behind and they had quick breaks every now and then but they finally made it to a large clearing on the mountainside. In this clearing was an old-looking, worn down cottage. It was exactly where Sircadias marked on a map for them so it simply had to be where 'Nightmayor' lived.
''This can't be it... Nobody looks to be living here.'' Pico pointed out as they all stepped inside, investigating. Yashin spoke, ''There are so many holes in the walls... even if someone did live here, it wouldn't be a pleasant stay.'' as Seiko and Linette nodded in agreement. Akarui yawned, rubbing her eyes and looking around. ''There's nothing here... We really shouldn't stay long.'' to which Linette added, ''Who knows what creeps and weirdos do around here...''. Just then, they heard a rustling. Someone was approaching the cottage. Not just one person... a whole group. Seiko noticed an area outside the back of the cottage to hide and peek in from, so he whisper-shouted to the others, ''Guys! Over there, Cmon!'' and they all silently panicked. Hearts racing, palms sweating, anticipating who'll walk in.
It was a group of at least 14 people, all in black cloaks. Their faces were hidden and some were holding bags, one of them were large and shaped like a body. ''Is that a dead body?!'' Akarui's eyes finally snapped wide open as she almost alerted the cult-like group. Then, the one holding the 'body' bag, opens it and it shows a young, dark brown and blonde ombre haired person. Their skin was fully white, but it was assumed to be from their death. Suddenly, one of the cloaked people started speaking. ''Voiders. We speak for our Lord, the god of death awaits. We may sacrifice someone when his moon rises. He will reign over all once more, thy death ritual shall commence!'' they finished. ''This is definitely a cult...'' Jiyu said, hiding the bottom of her face from where they were peeking in through. ''There's too many of us, we can't risk drawing attention to ourselves...'' Yashin whispered to the others as Seiko replied, ''I think three of us should go in. Look! They have extra cloaks and there's a lot of them so you could blend in-!'' he observed as Pico smiled and volunteered which three. ''Yashin, Jiyu and I should go in. You three go back to the Inn, we'll call you if anything happens.'', Akarui nodded, hugging Pico as she, Linette and Seiko waved and ran off, back to Wytherspear's City. This is when Yashin, Jiyu and Pico snook inside, grabbed a cloak before anyone noticed them. They listened to all the information that the 'leader' was spewing out. All stuff about cults, religion, sacrifice... and how they were called The Void, a cult that worshipped the god of death. How they were about to sacrifice that poor dead person to be able to speak with this... 'god of death'. It was absurd but there have been crazier things happening in the world to really notice the absurdity of its deities.
''It is time, Voiders. We will sacrifice this mortal to our Lord and he will repay us...'' The so-called leader announced as they grabbed a sharp knife with a wiggly blade and a skull on the handle. If the body wasn't dead now, it was about to be. Every other cult member put their hands together and recited what sounded like an ancient ritual. It was mortifying as the body was stabbed in the heart. But, before anyone could say anything, the body sprung up, stretching. It then looked around and noticed what was happening. ''Ooh, What's this? One of my pranks coming back to bite me in the butt, again?'' they rhetorically asked, as the whole cult seemed as shocked as the trio were. ''Oh... Now I get it. You thought I was a random mortal, didn't you?'' they rhetorically asked again as they then burst out in a fit of wild laughter. They then got out the knife from their chest and didn't bat an eye... as if they didn't feel any pain. The whole cult started screaming in fear, saying things like, ''We've angered the Lord! We've failed him! We must perish as punishment!'' and the mysterious not-dead person replied to all of it with witty comebacks and jokes.
Before they knew it, the whole cottage was empty apart from Yashin, Jiyu, Pico and the mystery person. They, of course, noticed this. ''Not running away with the rest of your little clan?'' They said, ceasing a giggle. ''No. We were never apart of that cult... just came to this cottage to find someone.'' Jiyu stared at the person, stoically. ''Hm. I should probably introduce myself then, huh...'' they said as they then put their hands on their hips, sighing. ''You better! You just got stabbed for god's sake!'' Pico exclaimed in confusion as the person then excitedly introduced themself, ''Well then, hi there! The names' Jinx and I'm the god of chaos! Though you probably recognised that part~'' Jinx winked and slightly chuckled after saying that. ''I'm sorry- Did you just say 'god of chaos'?'' Yashin asked, unsure of what to think. ''Yep! God of chaos, born and raised. What? You one of dem atheists or some shit?'' Jinx then tilted their head, confused slightly. ''I- No! Well, We don't get into religion that much. But we're just here to find someone who was supposed to live in this house!'' Pico answered, slightly annoyed. ''Awh, did I rustle your feathers? Sorry, stripey-hair but it's kinda in the title.'' Jinx chuckled again. Jiyu growled and then blurted out, ''Stop clowning around! Do you know who used to live here?!'' Jinx laughed, finding the whole situation amusing. ''Of course, I do! This house used to belong to my beloved friend, Nightmayor. But being in that cult thing, you might know him as the god of death? No? Who cares, point is he doesn't live here anymore. But~'' Jinx trailed off, letting one of them ask, ''But what?'' to which Jinx replied, ''But I do know where he does live now! And I could so totally take you there! However...'' Jinx smiled mischievously, waiting for one of them to ask, ''However what?!'' to which Jinx once again responded, ''However~ I have a question.'' Jinx stopped talking, bouncing on their tippy-toes waiting for a reply. ''Alright, shoot! Ask the question then we'll go!'' Pico smiled and motioned for Jinx to hurry up. ''Why the hell do you wanna see him so badly? The dude's been outta commission for years, even I can't crack that nutty old man!'' Jinx's piercing red eyes started to shine in the moonlight being exposed from the roof. Yashin spoke up and answered, ready to move on, ''He knows things about someone who's trying to destroy our world and without that information, there's no way to stop them.''. Jinx's eyes went wide for a second, and not a smile or laugh in sight. Then they looked down with upturned eyebrows and responded, ''Alright, that's reasonable.'' Jinx then turned on their exciting mode and skipped over to the exit as Yashin, Jiyu and Pico looked over.
''Well? Are you coming?''
