Like a Brother

Will's POV

My alarm goes off, and it's time for school. With a long groan and roll out of bed and stroll into the hallway. On the way to the bathroom, I hear a moderate snore along with my mom getting ready for work.

Wow, Jonathan can be so loud sometimes. I mean seriously, his door is closed and I can still hear it.

I use the bathroom quick and walk into the kitchen where I see, wait... "Jonathan?"

"Hey kiddo. Breakfast is almost ready" he said.

"Okay thanks. But if you're out here and mom is awake, where is the snoring coming from?" I ask.

Jonathan points to the couch and I turn to see a boy my age asleep. My eyes widened and then I give a confused look.

"Who is that?"

"Mom talked to me this morning while you were still asleep. Apparently he doesn't have a home or a family. She found him in the alleyway sleeping last night after she got off work." He told me.

Once again, my eyes widen. How in the world does that even happen to a young kid?!?

But Jonathan wasn't done talking yet, he continues.

"Mom also told me that there is one more thing about this kid. His name is 005..." Jonathan trailed off.

"So he's like Eleven? He's from the lab?" I question.

"I couldn't believe it at first, but yeah he is. I saw the mark on his arm when he rolled in his sleep" He said.

After that, mom walks in and I give her a look. She sighs, knowing exactly why I gave her that look.

She starts, "Look, I know you're surprised. I was too, but I couldn't just leave him out on the street in the cold. Yes, he is from the lab and..."

I cut her off quickly, "Mom, I'm not mad that he's here. I wouldn't wanted him to get hurt out there. Honestly, it's cool. Now it feels like I have another brother!" I say with a smile.

She lets out a breath of relief and continues, "Okay thank you sweetie. I was thinking about talking to Hop about what to do. I don't know what I'm going to do for today. I have work soon and you both have school."

I butt in and shout, "He could come to school with me!"

"I'm not sure honey..."

"No it would be okay! Mr. Clarke wouldn't mind him sitting in, and maybe he could learn some cool stuff too! I'll tell Mike, Dustin, and Lucas about him, and we will keep him around and hidden. It would just be for this one day until you talk to Hopper" I spit out.

She think for a little bit, and finally agrees. I jump in excitement and give her a hug, as she smiles. Little did I know, I was too loud. We all turn to a shuffling sound in the living room.

005 wakes up and sit up in the couch. We all walk over. Jonathan and I introduce ourselves and he just nods and waves.

My mom looks at 005 and asks him, "Would you like to go to school with Will today? I have work and they both have school, and I don't want to leave you here alone or on the street. We will talk to one of our friends about how to help you after today."

He looks up with soft eyes and nods his head.

"Okay then. How about me and you go get ready and then we can go to school." I suggest.

I stand up and so does he. We both walk to my room and while doing so, I turn back and give my mom a smile. She gives a proud one back.

Once in my room, I pull out some jeans and a plain blue shirt. I grab my own clothes too and then I show him the bathroom.
