Chapter 11: "Family Cookout"

Saturday, the cookout, everyone's coming out today to be with Katie and her mom, Ms. Wilson. The family calls her "keke" for short. Some people in the family calls Katie, "Kay Kay", for short. Besides the point it is 8 am and Katie and Kamiya is eating breakfast. Mom made them eggs, bacon and grits for the girls and fixed Katlyn her little breakfast. Kamiya and Katie chatted about the ceremony that happened on Tuesday.

Kamiya was proud of her big sister and you know her sister would say that to her when she gets out of elementary school. She wasn't able to come to Katie's graduation because she was at grandma's house. Katlyn gave Katie a hug and cheered her on. "Yayyy", Katlyn said happily. Katie giggles at her. "Thank you baby sis", Katie said giving her a hug. The cookout wasn't going to start till 2 o'clock today so mom made sure the food was ready by 12:45 at least.

Katie went outside with her sisters and did some activities. They first got the hoola hoops and played with them. Katlyn joyfully ran around Katie and Kamiya and touched their heads as she span around them. She ran around in a circle until she got really dizzy. Katie laughed at her and helped her up. The next activity they did was hop scotch. Hop scotch was forever Kamiya's favorite activity to do outside ever since she was little. The girls did a few exercises just to stretch out their bodies and be ready for the day.

Ms. Wilson was looking out her window and seen the girls having fun in their play area. She was in the house focusing on the BBQ Ribs and Stuffed Shrimp for the cookout. Everything else was done except for what she was currently making. Everyone is going to love this food. So far the corn, collard greens, hot dogs, beans, ham burgers, pasta salad, cold slaw, Mac and cheese and the cornbread was already done we're just getting the ribs and shrimp ready. Ms.Wilson bought some juices, sodas and waters to put in the cooler so it can get cold.

The girls came back in and drunk some water from being out in that heat even though that's where everyone was really going to be at. Rather you are in or out the house it's a celebration of family time together.

It was 1:51 pm and everyone came out and fixed their plate of food. Some of Katie's family members gave her a gift for her graduation. She also got some money too from her grandma. As grandma gave her the money she gave her a hug and sat down to eat her food. Music playing and everyone is having a good time with the family. It's more like a family reunion except for the food being included. Katie and her cousin, Na'riyah did some TikTok dances and took some pictures together. It just feel so good to have the closest people around you in your life just for you to love them and count on them no matter what. The food was good, everything was just about gone plus the cakes. The next cookout is going to be at a fun place that everyone can enjoy themselves at.
