Chapter 4

The next few days were a blur. The lines between dream and reality were overlapping. I remember a woman screaming.

Screams.

I heard screams. Who was screaming?

I was drifting in and out of consciousness.

"OH MY GOD!"

Mom...?

'NO...NO....NO! This can't be!"

Dad...?

"....911 yes there's been an accident..oh my God...."

Sirens.

What's going on? My head is spinning...

I'm floating away. No. I'm being lifted.

"Do you know why she would try to do this?"

Who was that?

What's happening?

More screams....

~

I was in a room. At least I think it was a room. It was pitch white. Where was I? I looked at my surroundings. There wasn't much to see because everything was white. I couldn't tell where the ceiling began or the wall ended. What was going on? Where was I? I looked down at myself noticing that I was wearing a white floral dress and white shoes.

I heard footsteps and looked up. Someone was coming. The person seemed to appear out of nowhere. Whoever it was blended in with the surroundings dressed in all white as well. Okay what was up with all the white? And where the hell was I? I asked myself for the third time.

I turned my attention back to the person that was approaching. As the figure neared I could see that it was a guy. He was getting closer now but he had his head down so I couldn't make out his face.

"Hello?" I called out.

No response.

"Who are you? What's going on?" My voice was shaking.

Still no response.

Okay now I was starting to freak out. Am I dead? Is this the afterlife? Pitch white and strange men? Not what you expected is it? Great my subconscious was back. Now was not the time to engage in a conversation with myself.

The strange guy was getting closer and closer. I tensed and started to back away until I hit a wall. What the- When did that get there? My first instinct was to run. And go where? My legs betrayed me and stayed planted on the floor. Looks like plan A is a no go. The guy was really close now. I don't think I had a pulse at that moment form how terrified I was. He stopped when he was two feet away from me and looked up. I couldn't believe what I saw.

"Mr. Ego?" Oops did I say that out loud?

I breathed a sigh of relief knowing that it was him and not someone else. But wait, what was he doing here? Did he die too? Seriously what was going on?

"What are you doing here? What's your name?" I tried again.

"That's not important," he replied.

"Okay, then what's going on? Am I dead? Are you dead too?"

He laughed.

"You'd like that wouldn't you? Sorry honey, but you are nowhere near dead."

I was a little taken aback by his answer, but mostly disappointed. I guess my plan didn't work then. What were you expecting him to say? "Welcome to the afterlife," with open arms? Pa-lease. My subconscious was really starting to irritate me now. Hey, just remember I'm a reflection of you!

"Well If I'm not dead then what.. are you saying I'm dreaming?" I replied back.

But this couldn't be a dream. It felt so...real.

"I don't make the rules hun," he said smirking.

Great Mr. Ego is still Mr. Ego.

"Then what are you doing here?" I asked him.

If I was dreaming, why would I be dreaming about him? He stepped closer then till we were toe to toe. I froze. My back was pressed against the wall. My eyes were locked with his. He leaned in slowly. My heart was racing. This was a dream? Shut up girl! Don't' ruin this! Our eyes closed and as if to answer my question our lips met as he kissed me. His lips were soft and gentle. It felt so real that my whole body shivered. Theres no way this was a dream. Our lips pulled apart and we just stared at each other.

"Why did you just do that?" I asked in a daze not really caring to know the answer.

"I don't know, it's your dream, you tell me," He smirked and leaned in again. That's when I woke up.
