The fire crackled in front of the two figures, ashes rising into the air before flickering down to the ground. Zelda's eyes were towards the starry sky, her brilliant eyes reflecting the sky above with the most dazzling shade of blue that Y/N could imagine.

"It's a nice night to be camping out." She said softly, a gentle smile crossing her face. It was nice to see her smile; it was sometimes rare whenever something reminded her of the past. Or thinking too deep into the difference between them.

"It is." Y/N mumbled back, adjusting the sword on his back. It never felt heavy until he was resting somewhere. When he was with other clanmates, there would be discussion about how to make sure their backs didn't get too sore from carrying weapons and other supplies.

"You can take your mask off, dear." The princess quietly spoke, gaze turning to the man across from her. He was still for a moment, the only notable movement being the rise and fall of his chest as he breathed. For a moment the two were in silence; well, silence besides nature around them performing a sensational musical.

He finally lifted a gloved hand to remove the mask, setting it in his lap. The upside down eye stared up at him, the red paint more eerie in the firelight. A hand touched his check, making Y/N look up to see an even wider smile on Zelda's face.

"There's that handsome face I missed so much." She murmured, eyes sparkling. Was it the firelight or the starlight that made her eyes glitter? Either way it was beautiful. He leaned into her hand, turning his gaze to the sky.

"The stars aren't as beautiful as you are." He quietly responded, hearing a flustered laugh from the blonde woman. He looked at her again, a faint smile crossing his lips at the blush on her cheeks. The pale pink flush could not be mistaken for firelight.

Her land lifted from his cheek and now her head rested on his shoulder. Blonde locks draped over his clothes. "I was thinking of cutting my hair. What do you think?" She asked, voice sounding slightly tired. The fire popped quietly, as if giving its answer.

"It'd...be easier to adventure with. Especially fighting and seeing things." Y/N finally said, eyes closing. "I think you'd look lovely." He held back a yawn, not wanting to fall asleep quite yet. It was rare to get moments like this. The two lived different lives with different plans. Sometimes those plans crossed in the bad way. So it was nice to just be sitting by a fire ready to camp the night away.

Zelda hummed quietly, eyes closing. They had sleeping cots ready and set up but maybe sleeping sitting up wouldn't be too bad. Though Y/N would have to unequip his weapons, which could be difficult to do without disturbing Zelda. Plus the thought of being unarmed in Hyrule was...strange.

It would take a while to get used to that habit. At least he had a headstrong princess by his side to remind him to relax whenever they were out. He rolled his unoccupied shoulder a bit, feeling the muscles cry in relief from the movement.

Maybe falling asleep sitting up was a bad idea. He could easily just pick up Zelda and tuck her into her cot whenever he was ready to sleep. Poking at the fire, nudging the embers into flaring brightly at the interaction, Y/N simply enjoyed the peaceful moment. Zelda stirred slightly, moving closer to him. It seemed like she was already asleep.

"Sweet dreams, love." He quietly said, tossing a few spare logs onto the fire to keep it alive before making sure the cots were set up properly. Zelda was well versed in many things, but not everything. Satisfied that it was, Y/N lifted the sleeping princess up, laying her on the cot and fumbling with the blanket to get it over her. Thankfully she stayed asleep.

Brushing hair out of her face and admiring the peaceful look on her face, the man shifted to his own cot, taking off his equipment and settling into sleep. The sound of the fire crackling blending with crickets and the wind in a natural lullaby.
