so what's it about?
Brooke Flores isn't very confident that he's going to make it out of Greendale Community College alive.
Granted, he's not a very confident guy in general, and it doesn't help that Greendale is, like, super weird. Filled to the brim with teachers who probably don't have actual degrees and way too much paintball, it's completely different from what Brooke expected a community college to be like.
The only thing keeping him slightly sane is his study group.
Formed by chance so they could study for Spanish 101, what is first a ragtag bunch of strangers soon becomes a family. Said family consists of a charming and self-centered ex-lawyer, an anarchist cat owner, a boy convinced he's starring in a TV show, a former football star still fixated on his failed sports career, an old man who's on everyone's last nerve, a mother, a girl who had a nervous breakdown in high school, and Brooke. Name one weirder family, he can wait.
And throughout the shifting dynamics of the group throughout their time at Greendale, Brooke finds himself gravitating toward one person: the charming and self-centered ex-lawyer, Jeff Winger. Because he can see through his façade down to the person that Jeff truly is. And Brooke decides that he likes what he sees.
personal notes:
— I am a local Jeff Winger whore and he is DEFINITELY bisexual, I don't make the rules.
— Brooke is so relatable and I love him. It's only been two chapters and I can already tell that he fits so well with the study group! His internal monologue is great and I love how his Guatemalan heritage is central to his character. His relationship with the Spanish language is so realistic, which is so refreshing to see.
— The study group is already very diverse with characters of various ethnicities and sexualities (none of them are straight and at least one of the girls is A Friend Of Ellen, js) (except Pierce, he's as Straight as Straight can be), and I love how seamlessly Brooke fits into that as a bisexual Latino character. I can't wait to see how his relationship with the group changes as the story goes on and they become more comfortable around each other❤️❤️❤️

Community OCs— Brooke and Isabela would be best friends and she would 100% help him with Spanish. Just sayin'. (The besties that will never be, because I think Rear View will collect dust forever, despite being fully written in my head.)
— If you haven't seen Community, please for the love of God watch it and then read this fantastic story. Bi Jeff Winger for the win.
