Everything is normal for Cadie Jackson and Harvey Chase— that is, until Cadie's body is discovered in the town square with slashes all over, without a clue as to who had committed the heinous crime.
They hold a funeral. Nobody can understand why this charming girl had suddenly been murdered and her body dumped in plain view.
But then Cadie turns back up and nobody seems to bat an eye. Everyone has apparently forgotten the grisly crime scene, the funeral, and the shock. Except for Harvey.
Even if everyone around him has apparently gone insane, Harvey remains convinced that this new Cadie cannot be trusted.
Because Cadie Jackson is dead. And he is determined to prove it.

— I have had this in my library for FOREVER and I finally started reading it. I am so glad that I did!! This is a novella so it's a quick read, but the story is so immersive and intriguing that it sticks with you regardless of length.
— The way that the book explores the thoughts and feelings of so many different characters in the town is really interesting because it shows how everyone views Cadie's death and Harvey's insistence that it happened. Aka he seems absolutely crazy to them for saying that she died when they don't remember it.
— I truly cannot believe that this book has only 2k reads because like ???? WHAT. Everyone go read it right now. Get it to 2 million. Get this book published. What the heck.
— I am about to go finish it RIGHT NOW. I have 9 chapters left and I'm so ready to find out what happened!!!
