-Her Other Half- Maze Runner X Reader

-Chapter 3-

While we waited for Minho to come back with our food it gave me time to properly take in everything that's happened today as I looked out at the glade that was buzzing with life as the boys of the glade all doing there jobs, in some weird way it gave me comfort, with that thought I subconsciously reached for my necklace and ran my thumb over the tag as a smile slipped onto my face.

Now...

I gave Minho a greatful smile as I took
the plate of eggs and toast from him then started to get stuck into my breakfast which I only now noticed that I was starving, so it wasn't a surprise that within a few minutes the plate was scraped clean, looking up at the boy's that sat opposite me they looked surprised that I could even eat that fast so I gave them a confused look as I lent back in my chair with a raised brow.

"What? All because I'm a girl doesn't mean I have better manners than any of you. Now, I'm curious about why there's no sign of any girl's here, why is that?"

Newt)"That's the thing, we don't know either. Every month the elevator over there brings up supplies and a new greenie, which is what we call the newbies here. Alby was the first one of us to turn up in the glade and he spent 3 whole month's alone before another boy was sent up here"

Danm

I thought to myself as I glanced out at the glade seeing all the boy's getting on with there assigned jobs which made me want to do whatever I can to help these boy's and hopefully, some day, get them out of this maze. Looking back over to the boy's, a determined look in my eye's and a light smile on my face, I asked what I could do to help but they told me that because of my ankle I'll have to rest a few days first before they even start thinking of what jobs I could do.

Newt)"If your feeling up to it you could help me today if you wanted? I know being injured sucks so I don't mind you helping me in the garden where we grow are food today"

"Really? I'd love that! I hate feeling like I'm no good"

A smile slipped onto my face as we made our way over to the garden with me being careful so I didn't fall over anything and then followed Newts instructions for the rest of the morning until it was lunchtime, everyone else went too lunch but I decided to go and check out the watch tower as I didn't this morning.

Standing at the bottom looking up at this wooden constructed watch tower I was mulling over if I wanted to climb it or not just to see what the view is like, in the end I did, and I'm already starting to regret it alittle. Once at the top I sat down on the edge with my arms leaning on the wooden makeshift railings that was secured with rope and vines.

The view looked out over the whole glade and alittle of the wall but not by much but either way it was a gorgeous view, there was a nice breeze cooling down my sweaty figure from being in the sun all morning in the garden so it felt like bliss, gently closing my eye's for a few minutes I took in every sound of nature and the soft feeling of the breeze brushing through my slightly knotted hair which managed to calm me down and relax.

?)"So you must be the girl that Minho and Newt told me about"

Startled I wipped my head around to lock eye's with a boy that has dark skin and my eye's never left him as he came over then took a seat next to me, I was alittle tense not knowing who he was or why he was even looked for me in the first place.

"Yh that me, what do you want? Who even are you?"

Alby)"I'm Alby, you could say I'm the leader over the glade in a way. Your [Y/N] right? Minho explained to me how he found you passed out in the maze which was surprising as we've never found anyone new in the maze before, your a mystery in a way"

"Lucky me"

I muttered under my breath not rather pleased that he's referring to me as a mystery all because they found me in the maze, we sat in silence for a bit and weirdly enough it wasn't uncomfortable but familiar almost like this kind of thing happened before, like déjà vu or something.

My gaze drifted to my hands but then caught a glimpse of something on my wrist so I pulled my sleeve up so I could see my arm better only to reveal a small tattoo or marking, it was a infinity symbol with a word underneath it in a different language which I didn't understand.

Weird

I thought to myself before putting my eye's back on the horizon making the most of what little time I had until lunch was over and I had to go back to work, although I'm sure they could do without the injured girl, the only girl in the glade actually which was slightly awkward and uncomfortable now I think about it.

Alby)"I can see your troubled, what's the matter?"

"Being the only girl. It's only alittle unsettling is all and I can handle myself, I now that, but it still feels weird is all"

Alby)"Don't worry about it, I can tell you'll fit in here without realising it"

"Thanks Alby"

Alby)"No problem, I'm going to leave you to it then. Still have a few things to do today"

And with that he left me alone with my thoughts in this little space that I've decided to be my favourite place throughout the whole glade, closing my eye's I just let myself relax at the sounds of the glade below and of nature as I settled down on my back with my arms behind my head acting as a pellow, it was only me, nature and my mind.
