Never in my life have I been more excited to go back to my hometown.
I have missed it.
The times when I would walk through the park to go to the bookstore. The times when the sun would shine brighter in the winter than any light. It was my place to be until the day that my own house became too toxic making me leave.
Starting a new chapter outside the city.
Getting to smile again.
But I am still happy to go back to the city even if it is for a day.
I woke up early and had a quick shower before curling my hair and changing into an outfit. I wore a pair of cream-colored leather pants that were getting wider below the knee, a white tank top, and a short light brown blazer. I put light make-up on before wearing a pair of white sneakers.
I did grab my handbag to come with me as well.
Hayden said he would come with me so I made sure to call him three times this morning to make sure he woke up. It's a three-and-a-half-hour drive and I want to get home before midnight to get some rest for tomorrow.
I really didn't want him to miss the bachelor party but it is what it is I guess. He said he wasn't going either way.
I was downstairs making two sandwiches for us to eat while being on the road and wrapping them up in foil. Putting them in a backpack where I already have my headphones, my planner, and other stuff that I thought were necessary that wouldn't fit in my handbag.
The front door opened and closed. Before I got the chance to see who it was Scarlett walked into the kitchen.
"You're up early today!" She stated.
"Good morning to you too!" I smile. "We are driving to my hometown today."
"We? Is Hayden coming too?" I nod. "That's sweet." She responded sitting on top of the counter.
"You going to the bachelor tonight?" I ask. "Yeah, I only met the bride once but I really am doubting if I should go or not." She shrugs.
"I think you should. It's practice for when you and Dylan get married." I tease and she reaches to hit me playfully but I get out of the way. "Shut up."
"I wish you were coming too." She stated. "I didn't get invited besides Hayden wasn't going anyway. I don't have any reason to be there." I tell her.
I mean even if I did get invited I wouldn't go.
Just because I would feel left out since I don't know anyone.
Besides Scarlett.
It is what it is.
"Have you talked to Cora?" She asks and I shake my head. "I just want to give it time. I am happy for her but I am pissed at Asher. It's not fair to be mad at her because of his words." I explain and she nods knowingly.
