I

t has been a week since Izana and Kakucho arrived in the Philippines. During their stay, they had the opportunity to meet Izana's grandmother, Cora.

Unlike Carmina, who was struggling to tame her son, Cora quickly formed a strong bond with her grandson. She understood the difficult situation and couldn't blame her son for abandoning not only him but also her other child.

Deep down, Carmina knew that her second child was innocent, and it was unjustifiable to leave her behind. However, every time she heard her second child's name or caught a glimpse of the child, it served as a painful reminder of her troubled past.

"Can I speak with you, Izana?" Carmina politely asked her son, who was massaging his grandmother's hand.

"If we're not going to talk about that child, I'm sorry, but no. I only came here today to check on my grandmother," the young man replied without looking at his mother.

"I-I'll tell you everything about your sister now, my son. Please," his mother pleaded from behind him, while the old woman nodded, signaling him to go and talk to his mother.

Izana let out an audible breath as he stood up and faced his mother, who was holding a photo album. Carmina walked towards her room and asked Izana to come in. The young man silently entered the room, and Carmina handed him the photo album.

He sat down on the mattress and opened the album, with his mother sitting beside him. Izana saw pictures of his mother working at the flower farm, as well as numerous photos of himself as a baby, until he turned one year old, with his mom by his side.

Seeing those photos served as proof that his mother cherished him deeply, and it was only fate that had separated them. He shifted his gaze back to his mother, who had a soft smile on her lips as she reminisced about the old days when he was in her arms.

"You were so clingy to me as a baby. You would often cry when you felt I wasn't by your side, thinking that I had left you when I was just doing some house chores," the woman giggled. However, her laughter abruptly stopped when she noticed the dullness in her son's eyes.

Unbeknownst to his mother, Izana found some solace in hearing these stories. He silently turned to the next page of the album and his lips slightly parted in surprise when he saw a baby picture of his younger sister, accompanied by the other half of his mother's last diary.

Carmina looked away, and Izana's face displayed a mix of confusion and astonishment as he noticed his mother trembling, getting off the mattress.

"It was exactly your sister's birthday when I unconsciously wrote down that letter. When I came back to my senses, I tore it apart and crumpled the other half. I didn't know your Lola found it and kept it together with your sister's photo," Carmina explained.

"I see," Izana mumbled as he read the other half of the diary in silence.

°°She is a product of sin. I was raped, and I attempted many times to abort her when she was only four weeks in my womb. She didn't deserve to live because she was a product of rape. She is a demon's child. But my mother stopped me and reminded me that the child is innocent.

Even when I delivered her into this world, my mother wanted me to keep that baby. But at that time, I completely refused. I almost killed her back then because every time I heard her wails or caught a glimpse of her, it always reminded me of what that monster did to me. Until today, I don't feel any remorse for what I've done to my second child. She is my lifetime nightmare,°°°

Izana was about to say something after reading the other half of the diary but his mother began to sob, looking out the window of her room.

"I know no one would have empathy towards me for loathing and abandoning an innocent child like your sister, Izana. The day I wrote my first diary, I received a call from the agency I applied to as a domestic helper in Japan. I was beyond joy because it was also your 3rd birthday. The agency sent me to Japan a week after my interview, and I was hired as a babysitter in the Inui household," Carmina revealed.

~Inui~ Izana spoke to himself, trying to process the information. ~Could it be?~ A certain person with the same surname as his mother had mentioned came to mind.

"The family was kind and generous, especially the couple. My female boss treated me like her younger sister. She often bought me new clothes, bags, and shoes. They had two kids. The eldest was a six-year-old girl, and the youngest was a boy turning one at that time. I became more attached to the boy because he reminded me of you, Izana," Carmina shared.

Izana sat there, listening to his mother's story, his mind filled with a mix of emotions.
