I have three days left to live and i'm stuck here with these sick people. they want to chop me up and sell me. I wonder if Kal knew anything about this, I feel like he did. Maybe that's how they were able to get me?
Soon the man takes me downstairs, i'm allowed to walk but this time i'm handcuffed. The metal digs into my wrists with every movement. As we walk down a dimly lit hallway, the walls are cold and damp, the kind of place that sends a chill through your bones. I try to keep my cool, but every step feels like a countdown to my end.
We reach a small kitchen with a single flickering bulb hanging overhead. He forces me to sit at a table while he rummages through the fridge. The smell of something burning fills the room, and I gag at the thought of what they might be cooking.
"Eat," the man says as he slams a plate of what looks like meatloaf in front of me. It smells terrible, like it's been sitting out for days.
I look down at the food, my stomach churning, but I know I need to stay alive. If I don't eat, I won't have the strength to fight back or think clearly. I force a few bites down, each one feeling like a betrayal of my own survival instinct. But I have to buy myself time.
"So... what's your name?" I ask, trying to distract him, make some kind of connection. If I can make him see me as a person and not just a paycheck, maybe I have a chance.
He smirks, leaning back against the counter. "Names don't matter, sweetheart. Only money does."
"Someone's paying 3 billion for me. Why me? What makes me so special?" I push, trying to get more information.
He chuckles, shaking his head. "That's not for you to know. All you need to understand is that you're valuable. More than you could ever imagine. And the people who want you... well, they're not exactly human either."
Not human? My heart races, and a wave of nausea hits me. I try to keep my composure, but that line sends shivers down my spine. What the hell does that mean?
I glance around the room, searching for any way out. There's a window to my right, but it's locked tight. The door is behind him, but there's no way I could outrun him. I need to play smart.
"So, you're just going to keep me here, feed me like a pig before the slaughter?" I ask, my voice laced with venom. "You really think I'll just sit here and wait for you to kill me?"
He leans forward, eyes narrowing. "You don't have a choice. But don't worry, the pain won't last long. We've perfected the process. You won't feel a thing when it's time."
As he says this, something in his voice wavers. He's not as cold as he wants me to believe. Maybe he's done this before, but maybe something about this is different.
I have to find a way out. I can't die like this, not without a fight. I need to figure out who else is involved, and if Kal is really part of this, I'll make sure he pays.
I take another bite of the food, swallowing it down along with my fear. This isn't over. Not by a long shot.
