"So there's nothing there? Nothing at all? Did they check his apartment? Okay, Okay, Bye" I sat in the living room with my hands on my head. I hung up the phone. It was the private investigator I hired. He didn't get any hits on the pizza delivery guy. He had an alibi and the search came out clean.
I had been up all night. Thinking of possible suspects. Calling the police. Calling her friends. Calling her family. Calling my family. They should be here any minute. The cops got footage off a security camera of Janie being abducted, but they couldn't see the man's face. It was masked. The car he was driving wasn't in the footage. They had no leads to go on. All of the suspects alibis had come out clean. We were at a standstill. The only things the cops had left were Janie's belongings. The DNA culture and process would take a few days. We were playing the waiting game.
"Steven?" It was my mom. "Steven, are you in here?"
"Yeah Mom. In here." I called to her. She spotted me and ran over, wrapping me in a tight hug.
"Honey, I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Have you heard anything new?" she asked.
"No, Mom." I said. I didn't want to talk to her. She flipped on the tv and the news came on.
"This morning we have a newly developing story. The new fianceé of Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, 23 year old Janie Parker, was reported missing late last night. Police are still investigating."
I flipped off the television set. Just then, Janie's Mom and sister walked in. They took one look at me and both of them lost it.
"Mrs. Parker, I'm so sorry." I told her. She sobbed into my shoulder. I didn't want to tell anyone about the baby just yet.
"Janie's dad is in a conference in Minnesota for the week. We got ahold of him this morning. He's jumping on the first plane he can find to Boston." said Janie's Mom.
We spent the next 3 days waiting and hoping. I made calls to the police every few hours and asked for updates. We had a private investigator too. It was always the same. Nothing. In reality, I knew what they said. Usually after the first 48 hours, the chance of the person being dead already was half. I couldn't believe it. She had been gone for three days already. It felt like years. In the middle of my disbelief, someone walked in. It was Joe.
"Hey man. How are you holding up?" he asked.
"I'm alright." I said. It was a total lie.
"You know we have a show scheduled for tonight. It's in Baltimore. We're gonna have it cancelled." he said. I nodded my head yes, but then Janie's mom interjected.
"Steven. You should go to Baltimore. Janie would want you to play the show. You can't let all of those people down." she said.
"Mrs. Parker, really, I can't. I don't even feel like I can get up off this couch let alone perform a show." I told her. She looked me in the eyes.
"Janie would want you to do it." she started to cry. Janie's sister hugged her.
"Joe, don't cancel it. I'll go. For Janie." I teared up. "I'll call and get us all flights into Baltimore. Just start packing."

Janie's POV
I was kneeling against the wall in an all white room. I clung to my wrists, which were bleeding profusely from knife wounds. I had a large gash on my head and a deep slash in my ribs. I was covered in blood. I had been here for three days. I watched the sun rise three times. Three days. I was beaten. Kicked. Smacked. Punched. And raped. The whole time, I took the abuse. I let it happen. I did all I could to cover my stomach. Save the life of my baby. I sat against the wall and clung to my stomach. This was the only thing keeping me alive. This was the only thing I was fighting for. The only thing keeping me sane. My baby inside.
