Gwen and Jacob's relationship was toxic. It all started back at freshman year. As a newly transferred student, she was open for new things, new friends, environment and of course a relationship.
And then there was Jacob, an "every girl's dream" kinda guy. He had it all, rich parents, cool friends toppled with the fact that he was the captain of the soccer team. And Gwen, she hopelessly fell for him.
Gwen's POV
"Hello! Someone said from behind.
I turned around to see a tan girl with brunette long hair and a welcoming smile."Hi!" I said back
"You must be Gwen, the newbie. My name's Blythe"
She stretched out her hand and I took it.
"Yeah. Nice to meet you, but how come you know my name?"
"I'm in your class silly, besides word gets out quickly"
I shrugged.
"So how you finding the school?"
"It's too early to say now. It's still my first day and I've had just one class"
She laughed.
"You're right. Still to early to judge."
The bell went off.
"It's break now. Come on. I'll show you to the cafeteria" she said tugging my arm.
The school's cafe was pretty big. Everyone with their own circle of friends just doing their own thing. Blythe who still had my hand in hers pulled me to a table with people I guessed were her friends. They all stopped what they were doing when they saw us.
"Hey guys. This is Gwen and she's new here"
I waved at them akwardly.
"Hey babe. I'm Trish" one of them said. Judging by her accent, I could tell she was British.
"I love your accent" I calmly said. I wasn't good with first impressions so I was hoping my comment would do the trick.
She paused and stared at me before she let out a shriek.
“Oh my gosh, you do?” she was elated.
“yes"
"See guys. Someone who really appreciates my accent." This attracted an eye roll from every one including Blythe.
She signalled a seat next to her for me to sit.
“I'm Dave!"a guy said taking my hand and kissing it slightly.
“You don't always have to kiss every girl you literally just met David. You might just get slapped one day” a girl said. This made everyone laugh including me.
"I'm Doris." the girl said.
"Nice to meet you" I said back.
"So Gwen, tell us your story and the reason you transferred here" Dave said.
Doris wacked his head.
"You don't need to know why she transferred here. The important thing is that she's here now.""No. It's fine. It's not personal. I actually transferred cos of my mum's job. She's a nurse so moving about has been top of my list."
"So sad" Trish said.
We were all talking, and catching up when a group of boys accompanied by some girls entered the cafe. It didn't take me long to know that they were soccer players and the girls were cheerleaders. Perfect pair!
I watched as they say at a reserved spot in the room and how the girls took their seats by each boy. They were headed by the most handsome guy I had ever seen.
He sat at the head of the table and one of the girls sat on his lap and gave him a smouldering kiss. It hurt me.“Who're they?" I asked.
"Oh. That's Jacob and his team. And that's penny. His girlfriend.” Blythe said with a mouthful of bread.
"Jacob!" I muttered to myself as i took one last glance at him.
