Haunted castle

Chapter 1

It was a quiet, gloomy day. Rain drizzled lightly from the sky. Some kids were playing in the rain. Others were walking to their destination with umbrellas protecting them from the wet droplets.

It's been like this for at least a week. It's could just be the weather being weather. Or. A certain rumor going on around.

This rumor started a week ago. After the rain started. They say that a thick fog has appeared outside of town. Those who dare adventure in it. Found a silhouette of a castle.
A castle outside of town in a thick, spooky fog? pfftt. that isn't that bad. But.

The castle was never there before.

They say the castle is haunted. Or another setup from Eggman just to scare mobians. But what if this rumor reached a few certain mobians. Perhaps. A whole group of heros?

Talking about heros. Our hero Sonic was sitting inside a cafe. Waiting for someone to come inside

A waiter passed by "Afternoon Sonic. Gloomy weather, aye?" he looked out the window. Then back at the blue hedgehog. "Heh. You can say that again" Sonic sighed. He looked out the window. "Don't you think this is...weird?"

"What do you mean by 'weird'?" the waiter asked. "I mean. It's normal for it to rain a lot in a week or more. But raining nonstop? And this is the only place catching this weather."

The waiter shrugged. "I've heard of a rumor by a few customers." he mumbled

"A rumor?" Sonic looked back at the waiter. Curious.

"Yup. Something about fog, and a castle. Maybe its connected somehow". Sonic put his hand on his chin. "Hmm. When Tails gets here. I'll ask him about it".

"Alright. Let me know if you want anything" The waiter smiled. Then left

Sonic looked back out the window. Watching the water droplets race each other on the window.

He heard the customer bell ring at the entrance. He glanced over.

There. Tails was struggling to put back his umbrella. Sonic smiled. And waved him over.

Tails returned the smiled. He shook his namesakes. and walked over. "Hi Sonic!" Tails sat down on the chair opposite of him. "Hey bud" Sonic grinned

Tails looked out the window. "Sheesh! Good thing I came inside." Sonic looked back out. The rain became heavy. and the trees looked like they could snap any second. Sonic looked back at Tails. and saw a weird invention on the table.

"Tails, What's that? Short version, please" Sonic stared at the invention curiously. "Oh! I use this to record the weather. There's been a weird pattern recently." Sonic raised an eyebrow. "Pattern?" Tails nodded. He turned the monitor towards him. "At exactly this time. and midnight. The weather gets worse. But after 2 hours. It calms down" He turned the monitor back towards him.

Sonic tapped his finger on the table. "Hey bud" Tails was still staring at the monitor. "Yeah?". "Have you heard of a rumor recently?" Sonic glanced out the window. Tails stopped what he was doing. Then looked at Sonic. "I have actually".

Sonic looked back at him. "Do you...Know what it's about?". Tails nodded. "Yesterday, I heard a couple mobians talking about something. I decided to eavesdrop for a while. They said something about a mysterious fog outside of town. And possibly a castle?"

"Do you think Eggman could be behind this?". Sonic hummed. Tails shook his head. "The fog appeared at least a week ago. And a week before. We had a battle over there with Eggman." Sonic was a bit confused. "Go on"

"There was no castle. It was just a regular forest". Sonic tapped his index finger on his lips. A smirk appeared.

Tails groaned "Don't tell me you're going to check it out!". Sonic chuckled. "Tails. You know me." Tails sighed. "At least bring a few of us with you" Sonic raised an eyebrow. "You want to come?". Tails packed up his invention. "You said I know you. And I know how reckless you are when alone. So of course I'm coming with you!"

"Once the rain calms down. We'll tell the others okay." Sonic smiled. Tails nodded.

Sonic raised his hand. "Sir! We'd like to order, please!"

Sonic and Tails had a quick little snack. There wasn't really much to talk about. Since it was raining 24/7. And no Eggman attacks.

They contacted Knuckles. Who agreed. With Amy. She said she was babysitting cream. But Sonic suggested on bringing her with us. And of course, Amy accepted.

Silver was back from the future. He agreed. Saying that this might all be connected to whatever disaster happened.

"I wonder if Shadow and Rouge would like to come" Sonic stared at the two contacts on his phone.

"Rouge would come if we bribe her with something. Not quite sure about Shadow" Tails hummed

"I'll text him. And see what he replies" Sonic tapped on Shadows contact. He texted him about the castle and stuff. And asked him if he wanted to come. Sonic wouldn't be surprised if he said no. His counterpart never does or likes anything fun.

He sent the message. And went to text Rouge. While he was typing. He got a reply from Shadow. Sonic raised his eyebrows in surprise. He sent the message. And tapped on the notification from Shadow.

Sonic was more surprised when he agreed. Not long after. Rouge agreed too.

Sonic put his phone back on the table. And sighed.

"Let me guess. Shadow didn't agree?" Tails was typing on his phone. Doing who knows what

"Actually. He did"
"Oh! Well that's good to know"

Sonic looked out the window. The rain was now a light spit rain. "We should get going" Sonic yawned.

Tails nodded. He put his phone away. "What time are we meeting there again?"

"9pm, tomorrow"
"What about Cream? Wouldn't it be a little late for her"

Sonic shrugged. "Amy said Cream and cheese were excited. And Vanilla is gone for a few days. So we don't have to worry"

Tails sighed. "Alright"

They paid their bill. And left the cafe. Tails pulled out his umbrella.

"I'll see you at the house" Sonic looked down at his fox brother. Tails nodded "seeya!" He waved

Sonic waved back. And dashed off

"So. We're going to have visitors tomorrow evening?"

"Yes sire"

"Excellent. Tell the other servants we'll have company"

"Yes sire....."
