The Leaves of Autumn

As the shivering wind blew the last orange maple leaf into my window, I knew my fate was sealed. I kept praying anyway, but I knew all my actions were in vain. I was cornered between a rock and a hard place, I couldn’t even try to call for help even if I tried to, the connection was horribly bad. As He creepily walked through the creaky and narrow corridors of my house, I began to tremble precariously, wondering if these are the last moments of my life. Is this it? Does it have to end like this? Why?

Monday, September 3, 2018.

My name is Mae, and I fell in love with a boy.

Clifford Harrison Klabberjass,

He had the dreamiest eyes, the most heartwarming voice, and the best looking guy in the whole school.

Everyone had a crush on him, because why wouldn’t anyone have a crush on him? He’s the type of guy every man dreams to be. I hope someday I can be with him.

“Mae, what on earth are you doing?”

Oh god, I was staring at him for so long that I  didn’t even notice that my friend had been calling my name several times! Gosh I need to keep myself together.

“Girl, you’ve been staring at that guy for the past few weeks, please don’t tell me you actually have a crush on him”

“Uh, why would i? I was just.. y’know spacing out cus it’s so boring around here!”, I replied.

“Sure you do, Let’s just get on with class already.”

Cheryl Kennedy, My best friend.

She’s the most wonderful person to have around, I appreciate her so much. She’s the reason why I became a straight-A student.

Eventually, the day came to an end, Cheryl kept nagging me about the boy at the bus. It’s annoying but I knew she was just trying to look out for me. She knows I have the worst taste in men, I guess that’s a fait point.

“Mae Hun, You know he only hits on the popular girls, the ones that are peaking so hard, the cheerleaders, you know the drill.”

“Gurl, what do you know? didn’t you break off with Carlson in under a week?”, I said jokingly

“Let’s not talk about that, Like everyone can hear you! You know it’s embarrassing!”

We both laughed it off, Two friends having fun. As the bus drove off into the distance, I waved goodbye to her, ending my day.

Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

“Mae, You’re going to be late for school!”

I jolted up quickly, glaring at my clock which read 07:00. Oh gosh, I only have about half an hour to go to school. I quickly grabbed a piece of bread and got in my mum’s car. I eventually arrived at school just in time, But i was greeted by Cheryl, Visibly pissed off.

“Oh my god where were you? Why are you so late?”

“Girl chill, I wasn’t THAT late! See, there are still people coming in!” I replied whilst pointing at all the other students.

“Fine, meet me at lunchtime, I got something to tell you.”

After the first period, I ran to the cafeteria. But as I ran through the hallway, I bumped into someone.

“Oh god I am so sorry, i didn’t mean to do that.”, I said nervously, whilst picking up the books that fell.

“It’s completely fine, I was in the way, I apologize”
