"Ukhti?" Ruby looked up from xyr book to see xyr younger brother standing in xyr doorway.

"Oh, Damian, what are you doing up?" Xe looked at the clock. "It's pretty late, and don't you have school tomorrow?"

But when he looked up at xem with a pained look, xe knew something was up.

"Oh, Dami... What's wrong, hon?"

"Nothing... It's just..." Damian's hands curled into fists. Tears pricked at the corner of his eyes. A sad smile appeared on xyr face. Ruby opened xyr arms, motioning for a hug.

"Trouble sleeping?" This must have pushed him off of the tip of the iceberg. The waterworks turned on, and he shoved himself into xyr arms.

"I-I... Ukhti... d-don't..." His quiet stutters reached xyr ears, and a look of realization crawled across xyr face.

"Oh sweetie... I know you don't want me to go..." He made no noise, but xe could feel xyr baby brother crying into xyr nightshirt. Ruby smiled sadly. "I have to, Dami, or who else is gonna save the fish?"

Damian's only blood sibling was going off on a trip around the world's oceans. Xyr goal was to document sea creatures that were suffering, in hopes of using xyr public status to bring awareness.

However, this trip would be dangerous for xem and xyr team. It would also bring xem away from xyr family for months, perhaps years.

"Damian, look at me," xe said, lifting his head slightly so that he looked at xem. "I'm gonna be okay, I'm a Kyle. I can't be killed that easily."

"I-I'm not worried about that..." He said, biting his lip.

"Then what's troubling you, hon?"

"Who's going to keep me from killing them?" He asked. Ruby laughed lightly.

"Dami, your siblings can take care of themselves."

"I don't mean them... I mean..." Suddenly xe knew what he was referring to.

"Damian. You won't kill anyone, you know why? Because you have your siblings. You have Dick, Babs, Cass, Steph, Jason, Tim, Duke... They'll keep you in check. But you won't need them." He looked up at her, confused.

"You're stronger than your mother's so-called 'training.' Dad's taught you better. I've taught you better, Dick's taught you better, Cass's taught you better. And you're not evil, hon, you know that, right?" Ruby asked.

He looked down, unsure.

Xe smiled sadly, then began singing a lullaby.

He smiled slightly, and his eyes began to close.

Ruby looked at her baby brother, who was fast asleep. Xe smiled, tucked him into xyr bed, and then lay down beside him, hugging xyr brother tightly.

When Alfred opened Ruby's  door to check on xem after hearing some noise, he was greeted with a pleasant surprise.

His oldest and youngest grandchildren, sleeping, safe and sound.

The butler smiled, took a picture, then closed the door.

They'd be okay.
