It was a particular rainy day in the town of Hargeon. Axel stood in front of the Hargeon Post Office he'd been working at with a grim face, clutching his current and final paycheck. It was such a sudden thing, being fired. It certainly wasn't the worst it could have been, but it still was gut wrenching.
"Hey! Mister Bossman! I've come back from my usual shift!" Axel called out as he walked in. No answer. Curious, Axel walked in further into the post office. "Where's that guy? Hmm... maybe he's on his break?" Axel talked to himself. He decided to walk towards the locker rooms to get his lunch.
After getting his lunch, he walked to the front of the office, where he met his employer. "Oh! There you are, Bossman! I finished the shift early today!" Axel said with a grin. "Is that so? That's great!..." his employer said, his face seemingly different than before.
Axel took notice of this. "Is something wrong, Mister Bossman?" Axel asked, genuine worry in his eyes. "Axel... you're a good employee, a great one even! You've been putting your greatest effort on this simple job for nearly over two months now," the employer said.
Axel looked at him in suspense. "Which is why it pains me to do this, but I must let you go," the employer finally said. Axel's eyes widened a bit, "I'm... being fired?" Axel asked, wanting more clarification. "I'm afraid so..." the employer said with genuine sadness.
The employer then went behind his desk, pulling out two pieces of paper. He then turned them for Axel to see, and it shook Axel to the core. Right in front of him were two wanted posters. The first was pretty low: Wanted! Black Armed Axel for 150,000 Jewels! Dead or Alive!
And the second...: Wanted! Black Armed Axel for 850,000 Jewels! Dead or Alive! Axel looked at both posters in disbelief, reading the descriptions. "You've got to be kidding me... all of this from one boat and multiple sightings?" Axel asked, "But I..."
"You're a good man, Mister Rosewood. You've proven that to me, as you've gone and replaced the boat you took that night. I bear witness. But that Meeting Hall..." the employer said. "Meeting Hall? Where does it say that?" Axel asked.
The employer looked at him in confusion, before turning both pages towards himself and realizing his mistake. "Oops! Here!" He said, dropping the first bounty and showing Axel the second bounty properly.
""-fishing boat and the destruction of the Guild Master Meeting Hall at Clover." Huh..." Axel read in shock, "I... I understand. Thank you, for everything," Axel took his hat off, bowing at the middle-aged man in respect.
He then left the main office and back into the locker rooms. He quickly changed into his only set of clothes, putting on his cloak before grabbing his belongings and making his way out. He handed in his badge, uniform and bag before bowing again, "Thank you, again," he said and left.
He had gone quite a distance before he was stopped by his former employer. "Wait, Mister Rosewood!" The man called after him. Axel turned to the man, "I understand your current circumstances, and that you may need the money... So please, take this as your final paycheck. This is all I can do for you..." he said.
