"Okay..." Axel said, falling back and resting on a tree, "Battle plan, battle plan..." Gordon lay down next to Axel, ears twitching with joy, "Well... you said you placed both cuffs..." he reminded Axel, "All that's left is the Skull of Departure, and he'll be sealed away again!"
"You make it sound easy," Kai said as he hung, upside-down, from one of the tree branches above. "Well, now it seems easier. What with me being the bane of his existence," Axel said. "Still a cunning bastard, mind you..." Eggbert said, inspecting his rifle.
"The real question is... how does Lucifer handle it during the process?" Gordon said. "Axel," they suddenly heard an approaching voice. Axel looked up at the voice, spotting Erza holding a first-aid. "Yes?" He said. "I went ahead and brought back some supplies. To treat your wounds, seeing as your fatal ones have healed," Erza told him.
Axel grinned, "Oh. Thanks!" He said. "Hmm..." Lucy hummed, "How did you do it?..." the group turned to her. "What do you mean?" Axel asked. "It's very surprising that you have a daughter..." Lucy told him, "I never thought you'd have the charisma."
"Ouch. Yeah, me neither," Axel said, taking the first aid kit from Erza, "It was... sorta luck based, to be honest." Gordon chuckled, "Best and worst thing to have happened," he said. "Best and worst?" Natsu asked, having been resting in Gray's arms. "Well, I got Teresa out of what seemed to be a great relationship, and..." Axel continued.
"... What... What happened to her mother?" Lucy asked. "Don't know... last time I saw her was during the invasion in my world," Axel said. "For real?" Kai asked, "Well... got some news for you, she's not in any of the suspended animation pods..."
"I see..." Axel uttered, now tending to his own remaining wounds. "What's with that reaction?" Gray asked. "What do you mean?" Axel asked. "You seem to have accepted this fact easily. Was there something going on with her at the time?" Erza asked cautiously.
"Hmm..." Axel hummed, letting his arms rest at his side, "Well... the basis of it was that our professions didn't exactly give us enough time for each other after a while... one thing led to another, and she... well..." Lucy reached a hand over, stopping him, "I think we get it... I'm sorry..." she said.
"Don't worry... it was a long time ago and... I'm just mostly worried for my daughter, is all..." Axel said. "Are you... just okay with that?..." Happy asked. "Not really, no. But... shit happens. My only regret is never making up with her Mama in a healthy way... after all, she isn't just my daughter... Wish Teresa felt the same way about her mother..." Axel said earnestly.
"I know this is a touchy moment, but..." Kai began. "Yeah. Yeah! Let's move on," Axel said, getting up from his spot, "We need to distract him. Easy enough... The real issue is putting the Skull around his neck." Gordon sat up, "We need to get you up there while in your Darker Phase... Uhm... Using Master Mode consecutively tires one's mind, running the risk of becoming Berserker," he explained.
"Even if we can't die from the drawbacks anymore, we can't run the risk. Especially with the current shape of both bozos," Kai said, patting the head of Axel and Gordon before dropping down onto the ground, feet first. "We need two teams. A team in the sky, and a team on the ground," Eggbert said, loading his rifle.
"Easy. Erza and I can fly," Natsu said. "Yeah, you can fly with my help!" Happy said, flying up to Natsu. "I'll be on the sky team," Kai said, grabbing at one of his katana's hilts. "Hold on, you? On the sky team?" Gray asked. "Yeah. I can fly, I have dragon blood," Kai said. "Three... two... one..." Axel and Gordon counted down.
"What?!" Natsu exclaimed, shooting up in shock followed by Happy. "What's up with them?" Kai asked. "Forgot to mention... dragons are a thing in this world..." Axel said. "Really?" Kai asked. "Well... I've never seen one yet, but there are four that claim they have, and you're looking at one," Axel said.
