"A heavy snowstorm is expected tonight which will make tomorrow afternoon perfect for snowboarding or skiing. In the meantime may I suggest our indoor activities and spa." The manager explained during our early evening tour around the resort.

"I'm feeling pretty famished right now, I would like to commence to the dining area." We had been at this for half an hour and didn't think I could go any further.

"Oh I apologize, you must be exhausted from the traveling and I'm not making it any easy." The manager chuckled and passed me an apologetic look.

"It has been quite the day, we just want to eat and retire to bed. I'm sure we will find time to finish the tour tomorrow morning."

Or not at all, I thought sourly.

"Don't let me keep you waiting then, I'll see you tomorrow then."

I couldn't get out of the lobby any faster with Nick trailing behind me.

"You could've at least pretended to enjoy that, the poor guy thinks he made a terrible impression on you."

"He talks too much." I said grabbing a chair to the closest table I could reach.

"It's not so crowded here, that's good, there are fewer chances of us being recognized here." Nick spoke joining me at the table.

I was too tired to ask what that meant however there was something I wasn't too exhausted to inquire about.

"What did you mean earlier when you said you weren't just sitting around waiting to inherit your father's company?"

His words had been bothering me for quite some time, I couldn't properly decipher their meaning.

"I meant just that. How do you think I plan to buy all this? It certainly ain't with my father's money." He said smugly.

"Okay?" I blinked at him.

"You ever heard of Hushberry holdings?"

The name had come up a few times in my papers. It was my job to keep up with the competition and this one particular company was a tiny headache that could possibly become a problem in the future.

"I might have heard of it. Why?"

"I own it." He said, voice void of any emotion.

"What? That's not possible I have seen the owner a couple of times and you look nothing like him." I gestured my hand all over his form.

"Of course, that bastard's looks got nothing on me." He scoffed.

"Then...?" My patience was wearing thin with all the little vague responses.

"I thought you were famished, let's order first then we'll talk."

And just like that the conversation ended, postponed to a later time, I almost banged my fist on the table in frustration.

A small breath was all it took for me to regain composure.

"Should we try to seafood platter? It looks very promising." I said, plastering the largest fake grin I could muster.

"Mmm I think I've had enough seafood to last me a lifetime, maybe the new kimchi ravioli and the Korean side dish platter to go with." He suggested, his face smug as hell like someone holding a bunch of state secrets.

Maybe he was and I couldn't hide the fact that I was dying to know.

"Korean food it is."

**********************************

I sipped the last of my wine and gently placed the glass in front of me. We had cleared every last bit of food brought to us, desserts included.

"I didn't realize that keeping you on your toes would be this exciting."

"Will you explain it to me now?" I hated my voice for sounding so eager.

"I was being serious, I own Hushberry or at least 60% of the shares." The playfulness in his voice had disappeared.

"If you have a company already doing so well why did you feel the need to come for D&D too?" My brows furrowed in deeper confusion and I could barely contain the accusatory tone that came with my question.

"It's my mother's blood, sweat, and tears too, I wasn't going to let fall into anyone else's hands."

And by anyone he meant me, his father's newest younger wife who had her eyes on a company she didn't help build. It was all so clear in his eyes, he didn't need to voice it out.

"Oh, then why built a company from ground zero if you were just going to inherit a family business?"

"I wanted my own success, separate from my father's name that's why I let someone else be the face of the company." He explained but I wasn't buying it.

"So what, you decide to go into the same business as your father? You could have ventured into any other field but you followed right in his footsteps, I don't think you're fooling anyone."

Definitely not me.

"What can I say, I love a bit of competition and I am giving you a run for your money aren't I?" He smirked at me furthering my annoyance with him.

"I'm starting to think you only accepted the CEO position so as to sabotage D&D." It wasn't a far-fetched idea considering the fact that nobody else knew about his connection with Hushberry holdings. I wouldn't put such an idea past him.

"Hmm, that doesn't seem like a bad plan but fortunately my needs aren't that petty. I want D&D to succeed as long as I'm running things."

Of course, he wasn't the type to want anything to fail as long as it had his name on it even when it benefit him in the future.

"If this trip was all for Hushberry then why am I here? I'm not very keen on working with the competition."

"I want to make you an offer." Nick said leaning forward.

Not that I would ever consider anything this man offers me but I was curious.

"What kind of offer?" I asked

"A position at Hushberry, a higher rank than you currently hold. You'd still be working for a successful company and with my plans, it'll even be better than working for D&D enterprises."

I don't know what was crazier, the fierce and eager look in Nick's eyes or the fact that for a split second I actually considered his offer.

"What's the catch? Nobody throws this kind of offer on the table out of the goodness of their heart." I asked,  leaning forward to meet him eye to eye. Nick wasn't a generous person so I knew there was way more to this offer than he was letting on.

And I wasn't wrong because his next choice of words caught me completely off guard.

"Leave D&D enterprises and my father altogether."
