HAMISH'S POV
21:30, day 1
I can't say anything, but I was scared, terrified even. I hadn't trained for this, I was trained for killing, not surviving. I was on lookout duty, the others were drifting off to sleep, they looked so helpless and childish at night, but during the day they were dangerouse killing machines. I had some water and a slice of beef jerky to keep me awake. I heard a noise to my right and lifted my spear, but it's just a squirrel, and I wouln't risk wasting valuable lookout time just to kill a squirrel. I waited a while, and finding it pointless I leaned against the side of the cornucopia, and find my eyelids start to get unbearably heavy, and within moments I begun drifting off.
"Psst," I heard, "Hamish."
"What.." I said.
"You fell asleep," it was Beth, "I'll take over if you're too tired."
"Uhhh," I began, "okay, I guess, just don't tell the others, okay."
"Okay" she whispered, got out her sleeping bag and grabbed her bow and arrow.
"Thanks," I concluded, then fell asleep. The next morning I wake up to the sound of birds, I was stationed at the far end of the cornucopia, I hadn't fallen asleep there so Beth must've moved me. Anyway, after a short breakfast of beef jerky and crackers we started to collect up our supplies, and looked at what we had. Enough weapons for 2 each, and spares, enough food to last us a few weeks, enough sleeping bags for every tribute, not that some would ever need them, and water bottles and backpacks for everyone. Plenty, I thought, we shoved it in the cornucopia, right at the back so it could be protected by any lookout on duty.
Then I saw something, just out the corner of my eye, a backpack, just sitting there, in the open air, 10 metres from me, I planned on getting it after putting this stuff away, I turned away, then Ellie shouted at the top of her lungs, "Theif, theif, Hamish, Danny, catch him!!!"
At first I didn't know what she was shouting about, but I grabbed my spear, and turned. There was a short boy running towards the backpack, I charged. Moments later we were face to face, Danny stayed back, allowing me to do the job, the boy stared at me, I think he was that kid from 4, Marcus, yeah, that was it, Marcus, he was strong, but small, he had a small knife, but that was no threat to me, I pushed him, and he pointed his knife towards me whilst tumbling backwards onto the ground, he looked up at me with innocent eyes, and whispered, "Please, please don't kill me."
"Why not," I replied, "I could just kill you quickly, or keep talking and it'll be very slow and oainful for you," I began to lower my spear, then left it hovering just above his chest.
"No, please, I, I, I can, I," he stammered as I carried on lowering the spear, "I can show you where they are!" He shouted.
"Stop Hamish," Danny shouted, "Show us where they are, then we won't kill you."
"Fine, thanks," he said, sighing with relief.
"Don't think we aren't done yet, migit," I said, spitting on the ground next to him.
I stood, and helped him up, he stood, and went over to the girls, "Keep an eye on thet one," Danny whispered in my ear, "I don't trust him."
I stared at the new kid with pure hatred, I grunted through gritted teeth, letting Danny know I agreed, I didn't trust this kid either...
