It was just 5 days until the games. There was an alliance. And there was tension in the training centre. Nobody wanted to make a mistake. The tributes had just 1 more day of training until their individual assessments. Each tribute was just counting down the hours, scared to death. Training became more intense, especially for lower districts like 11 and 12. This assessment could mean the difference between winning and dying horribly.

24 hours to go. 20. 15. 12. Tension only lowered when the tributes fell asleep, even then, many of their dreams filled with their own death. 5 hours, the tributes woke up and got dressed. 4 hours, breakfast. 3. 2. 1, "all tributes report to the training centre," came a voice through the loudspeaker. 30 minutes to go, the tributes were ready. 0. "Danny Penman report for individual assessment. "
The tributes left one by one, showing their chosen skill to the gamemakers and capital officials.

All tributes from 1, 2, 3, and 6 were filled with anxiety, they each knew that if their score was too low they would be out of the alliance and killed in seconds.

4 hours later

The scores came, they were read out 1 by 1 -
District 1 Ellie has 9 and Danny 9
D2 Beth has 8 and Hamish 9
D3 Bonnie has 8 and Forbes 8
D4 Lucy has 7 and Marcus 8
D5 Shakira has 6 and Beau 7
D6 Maddy has 9 and Josh 9
D7 Melissa has 7 and Xander 7
D8 kelsie has 6 and Lewis 7
D9 Corie has 7 and Damien 7
D10 Anakha has 4 and Mitchell 7
D11 Mika has 8 and Harry 8
D12 Juliet has 6 and Daniel 7
Lots of 7s, thought Ellie to herself, that girl from 10 got a 4, she's dead already.

Here's a thing about the games, nobody wants to die, it's unfair.

Life's unfair.
