The Call

My glee when your name pops on the screen
Even when I lay my feet bounce off the walls
Heart leaps into the air longing for your soothing voice
My skin gets a lift kissing softly the fabrics of my attire
I'm an old soul you know
Things like letters would send me into a bliss
But in this age
Phone calls would accomplish just the same task

That night my room was dimly lit
Waiting for the usual good night call
Bed laid, body washed, teeth brushed
The nitty gritty you know
Did them all, I was ready to take in the voice of my angel
I arched at an angle, leg crossed, raised;
Resting vertically on the wall
If they could talk, they would tell the joy my feet felt as my toes curled

I felt like a princess even though a king I am
King of your world
I picked with a huge smile plastered on my foolish face
Your voice broke free and I imagined your smile
"Hello, John" John? John? Where did that come from?
It's my name but it's not the name I've grown to hear from you
"It is over I'm done"
A message I never thought I would receive
My leg dropped dead and it wasn't gorgeous
Limps got weak as confusion drove in
Fever and shivers slept with me
Wasn't aware as tears broke free
What just happened? The question that kept bugging me.
