The Last Day

I am sitting down with Stefan, Elijah and Elena in Salvatore living room. I can't believe I let Elena drag me here. I swore to myself that I would stay as far away from Damon as possible but look where I am.  I can't believe he said he loved me. Damon the guy who was supposedly in love with my sister. Like how did that happen?  I have had a crush on Damon for about a year now and him telling me he loved me. Where has that come from? Yea me and Damon flirt occasionally, but I thought it was just classic Damon. Oh well, it's going to get super awkward from here on out. 

"Tonight, is the full moon. We should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse." Elijah suggests clearing his throat. 

"Elena said that the Sun and the Moon curse is fake? That it's actually just a curse placed on Klaus." Stefan inquires, glancing at Elena. 

"Klaus is a vampire born of a werewolf bloodline. The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting. But if he breaks it...He'll be a true hybrid." Elijah warns.

Damon suddenly enters the room, ignoring eye contact with me. Everyone goes silent. Sofa, please swallow me whole. "Then why are we letting him break the curse? We can kill him today. With Bonnie."

"Damon..." Stefan hisses.

"No. Bonnie can't use that much power without dying." Elena states.

"I'll write her a great eulogy." Damon jokes.

"It's not an option, Damon." Elena declares.

"All right, how do we break this curse?" Stefan asks.

"Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward. The ingredients, so to speak, you already know." Elijah begins.

"The moonstone." Stefan cops on.

"A witch will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell that's bound within the stone. After that, Klaus, being both werewolf and vampire, will sacrifice one of each." Elijah continues.

"And where do I fit into it?" Elena questions.

"The final part of the ritual. "Elijah takes a wooden box from the shelf. "Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelgänger...to the point of your death."

I look directly at Elena. Stefan takes her hand. 

Elena looks at Elijah. "And that's where you come in."

He opens the box and takes a jar from it. "This is an elixir that I acquired some 500 years ago for Katerina. It possesses mystical properties of resuscitation."

"So, she'll be dead?" I state as Damon shuffles uncomfortably.

"And then she won't." Elijah says as if it was nothing.

"That's your plan? A magical witch potion with no expiration date?" Damon looks at Elena. "You want to come back to life, what about John's ring?"

"Those rings only work on humans. The doppelgänger's a supernatural occurrence. Odds are, the ring won't work." Elijah discloses.

"I'll take those odds over your elixir. What if it doesn't work, Elena?" Damon replies."Then I guess I'll just be dead." Elena states bluntly.

Damon looks at Stefan as he shrugs. Then looks at Elijah and leaves.

"Do we know if Klaus has everything, he needs to do this? Does he have a werewolf?" Elena asks.

"Klaus has been waiting to break this curse for over a thousand years. If he doesn't already have a werewolf, my guess is by tonight, he will." Elijah warns.

I follow Damon outside, to see he is drinking scotch. "Damon..."
