Chapter 2

5th September 1975

The first classes had finally started. Classes always started around a week after school started because the first years were supposed to get to know Hogwarts and their dorm or classmates. Marlene didn't really feel well, she couldn't stop thinking about the strange encounter with the slytherin girl on the train. She also was always seeing the slytherin girl wherever she went. Quite strange but oh well. It wasn't that strange, was it? They were literally going to the same school. Marlene needed to get the other girl out of her head. It was hard though.

"Hey Marls! Get up, breakfast is ending in like thirty minutes!" Lily told her, trying to wake her up

"Oh shit, thanks Lily" Marlene said, jumping out of bed.

Marlene quickly changed into her uniform, briefly brushed her hair and threw on some makeup. Then she and Lily ran down to eat. When they arrived, running into the great hall they bumped into a small group of slytherin girls. Out of all people of course Dorcas Meadows was there. The other girl scoffed and gave them a dirty look. But Dorcas on the other hand looked at Marlene with something you could call admiration. This isn't right, I am supposed to like boys Marlene thought to herself. Not that she had anything against girls that liked other girls. She could do her research about it? Nah, too much work. Plus she was one of the most popular girls when it came to boys. She didn't want to think about it anymore but it was lingering in her mind. As she sat down at the table she was greeted with a couple friendly smiles. She decided to eat apple pie today because she needed the energy for the classes today. She had charms, transfiguration, potions, herbology and defence against dark arts. Great. So many classes. A whole day of lessons. And we are already getting homework. Fantastic. Marlene thought sarcastically while munching her pie. As she finished she got up and ran to transfiguration class. McGonagall, probably Marlene's favourite teacher at Hogwarts.

After all the classes that day Marlene decided to meet up with Sirius by the quidditch rink (idk if it's called that but my mind went blank). She wanted to break up with him but still wanted to date him. She was confused about herself. Why am I like this? Marlene thought walking down to the quidditch rink. Marlene arrived at the rink. Sirius jumped on her back attempting to scare her. He greeted her with a wide grin that just didn't look genuine for some reason.

"I didn't think you'd come" Sirius said sitting down on the bleachers next to Marlene

"I keep my promises" Marlene scoffed

"Of course you do"

"Yeah, you got a problem with that?" At this point they were just teasing each other.

"No not at all" Sirius said, pulling her in by her waist.

Marlene didn't know what to do. She didn't know if she was blushing, sweating of anger or was embarrassed. Sirius placed a kiss on her lips and she kissed back because she didn't know what to do. As she closed her eyes they heard a loud "Ewww" As they pulled away and turned around they saw Dorcas Meadows and Regulus Black. Wow, great. They've been spotted by Marlene's possible crush and Sirius's younger brother. Marlene was too stunned to speak. The slytherins probably were too. Sirius started quickly explaining himself. Regulus looked at him as if he was going to reveal something unexpected but didn't. Marlene looked over at Dorcas and it looked like she was about to cry. Marlene didn't know what to do. She wanted to go under the ground and stay there. She could even imagine the rumours. "Did you know Black and McKinnon are hooking up?" "Oi, did you hear what happened last night?" Marlene would die out of embarrassment right there and then if it was possible. If there would be any rumours about this I would lose my chance to be on the quidditch team my reputation would be ruined. She realised she had zoned out staring at Dorcas. She quickly snapped back to reality and looked away. Then she quickly left the situation, excusing herself with that she had to finish homework. She was of course lying, she had done her homework. As soon as she got back to her dorm she went for the shower. She didn't really have that much to do later so she went to sleep. She talked to Mary and Lily before falling asleep. What is happening to me? Marlene thought before drifting into sleep.
