The quidditch tryouts were today. Marlene was definitely going to try out. She was a chaser last year, so she had a great chance getting on the team. James was also trying out. He was also a brilliant chaser. Him and Marlene had great chances getting on the team, they were always scoring. Their teamwork was amazing. The tryouts were going great. Marlene was one hundred percent sure she would get on the team. She and James had a sibling-like friendship. They had practically known each other since forever. Marlene suddenly felt someone staring at her while she was flying on her broom. She finished off her stunt and looked around. There. On the bleachers. We all know who. Of course, Dorcas fucking Meadows. At this point Marlene was sure she was screwed.

It actually went surprisingly well. Marlene made the quidditch team once again.

Later on, Marlene had potions class. It was together with the Slytherins. In class Slughorn paired them together. A gryffindor and a slytherin each pair. Marlene got paired with Evan Rosier. He was very tall for his age. He was a little taller than Remus, who was very tall.

"So you're the McKinnon girl?" The tall guy asked.

"Yes, why?" Marlene answered

"Nothing" the tall guy replied, quickly looking around.

It was awkwardly silent the whole time while they were making the potion. Marlene was going over to the shelves to get one of the ingredients. As she grabbed the jar with 'Armandillo bile' (i found it on the internet, don't come at me) she felt a hand on her hand. As she looked over she realised it was Dorcas. She quickly put her hand away and looked to the side. Marlene and the other girl were staring at each other. Dorcas looked up and down in between Marlene's eyes and lips. This was so awkward. Marlene quickly grabbed the ingredient and swiftly walked away. Suddenly Marlene remembered the rumours from last year. The rumours were that Dorcas was a lesbian. Marlene's thoughts froze and she stiffly walked up to the table where she was working. The rest of class was awkward.

Later Marlene decided to hang out with Lily and Mary. They had been friends for a long time. Nothing could end their friendship. They were best friends. They will always be. They have been planning to grow old together for years. Merlin, I can't get Dorcas out of my head, Marlene thought mad at herself. Mary and Lily were talking about everything and nothing. Lily was talking while reading. That girl was incredible, she could read while paying attention to the conversation around her. Marlene was a little jealous of that, it's a perfect spying technique. Marlene was ranting to the other girls about quidditch and they listened to her. It's nice when someone actually listens to you while you rant. Marlene didn't really have a great experience with that. Her parents just didn't pay attention. They weren't neglecting or ignoring her. They just didn't listen. Atleast that's how Marlene felt it was. When she ended ranting she quickly said.

"Sorry for ranting so much, it's just something I'm very interested in"

"Don't apologise, I can rant about books or gardening for hours" Lily said.

"And you're obviously really passionate about quidditch" Mary said.

Marlene felt a wave of happiness spreading through her body. They actually listened to her. She was still a bit in shock about the incident in potions class earlier so now she was very happy. She could've run around the quidditch rink twenty times because of the dopamine and adrenaline in her body. Suddenly she zoned out and pictured Dorcas. Why her? Marlene asked herself but before she could snap back to reality, she started blushing. She felt the blush spreading through her face.

"What happened? Are you blushing?" Mary asked, obviously confused.

"No, I'm not blushing!" Marlene exclaimed, knowing dang well she was blushing.

"You are. Your face is tomato red" Lily said, with an overly serious, mom look.

"Are you thinking about Sirius or something?" Mary asked, rather innocently.

Shit, we're still dating. I completely forgot. Shit. I can't fucking do this.

"Yeah, of course I was. What else would I be thinking about?" Marlene answered, her palms were sweating.

"Marls, are you ok?" Lily asked, with that serious mom voice

"No, I'm not! I don't know what is happening to me! I think I'm falling for someone else!" Marlene finally exploded, with tears in her eyes. Lily moved over to the crying girl and hugged her. So did Mary.
