*Senior Year*
"Why don't you just run for prom with Jamie?" asks Jason.
"Because! I'm already running with Mariella!" Kyle reasons.
"Wait what? The Spanish Club president?"
"Yes broooo. Gahhhhhh she's so fine. You know. Curly hair. Luscious lips. Slim thick. Wooooo. I don't have a type but I definitely have a type."
Jason and Kyle are talking at the boba shop they work at. It's a slow day so far.
Jason has been trying to inch Kyle towards Jamie. Clara told him about Jamie liking Kyle since last year. She told him that it's the first time she's ever liked someone for more than a few weeks. Jason told Kyle a few weeks ago and unfortunately for Jamie, has shown no interest.
"Isn't she the one girl that wrote 'CHEATER' in big bold letters on that one dude's car in the school parking lot?"
"Yeah," Kyle says smiling, looking up towards the ceiling.
"And you like that?"
"Hey, now that's a strong independent woman right there. She's able to stand for herself."
"Is that what that is?"
"Yes. Absolutely."
"Okay buddy. You have fun with that."
Clara and Jamie suddenly walk into the boba shop and Kyle, seemingly avoiding Jamie, heads to the bathroom. Jamie notices and becomes embittered.
"Hey Jason," Clara says grinning.
"HeY jAsOn," Jamie says, mocking Clara, still upset about Kyle avoiding her.
"Oh shut it," Clara snaps.
"Hey girls. What can I get y'all today?" Jason asks as the two approach the counter.
"I'll take the brown sugar with boba," Clara says.
"I'll have the taro," says Jamie.
"Okiedokie, one brown sugar and one taro," Jason calls back their order.
"Slow day huh Jason," Clara says as Jamie walks away and sits down looking at her phone.
"Yeah, not too much going on. Hey don't jinx it though, knock on wood," replies Jason as he knocks the counter.
"Haha sorry sorry. Any luck with Kyle and Jamie?"
"Nope. He said he's running with Mariella."
"What? The Spanish Club president?"
"Mhm."
"The one girl that wrote 'CHEATER' in big bold letters on that one dude's car in the school parking lot?"
"That's what I said!"
"Hmmmm. She does look like Kyle's type. Awww. Poor Jamie."
They both look at Jamie who overheard them, and now has her arm resting on the table, her head resting on her hand, frowning.
"Awwww," Jason giggles as he continues making their boba.
Kyle walks out of the bathroom and makes eye contact with Jamie first.
"Hi," he says softly.
"Hi," Jamie says back, straightening up on her chair, brushing off her frown.
Clara and Jason laugh as Clara makes her way to Jamie's table. "I'll just bring your boba to you guys," Jason announces.
Kyle helps out Jason and makes Jamie's order. Jason looks at Kyle and smirks. Kyle shoves him.
