The days that followed had passed quicker than you had ever expected, though you weren't sure if having the thrilling distraction of packing up your belongings so you could temporarily move into the Kamisato Estate held any responsibility for time's sudden haste.
Currently, you were flopped down on the bed in the guest bedroom that Ayaka had personally set aside for you, and from as many times as you already tossed and turned from just lying awake on it, your form had disrupted the neatened bedding and had painted wrinkles in the fabric of the soft, light violet comforter.
And, speaking of the belongings you previously thought of, as you took a lethargic look around your surroundings from the comfort of your bed, you groaned as you realized that you still needed to make yourself at 'home' by finishing up retrieving your items from the boxes you carried them in.
After all, the festival was going to last eighteen days and eighteen nights, and you were planning on staying for at least three weeks, so you figured you might as well settle in.
As you began to wonder if Ayato would ever 'bless' you with his presence during your stay at the estate, you could tell that your mind was beginning to wander down the same perilous trail of anxieties that it had traversed the previous nights before, hence why you were beyond thankful when your chain of thoughts was finally broken once you noticed Ayaka from the corner of your eye.
"Y/N, are you ready? If we get a head start now, we should make it to the plaza in Ritou by noon." Ayaka gently inquired as she patiently stood at your dwelling's entrance, waiting for your response.
For her sake, you put on the bravest smile you could wear and nodded your head.
"I'm as ready as I could ever be."
You absolutely hated how unsure you felt about the repetitive words you just spoke, but you had no desire to let Ayaka know how you truly felt about all of this, lest you add another worry onto her already Celestia-high tower of responsibilities.
"Delightful! Thoma and Taroumaru are waiting for us at the entrance." Ayaka clapped her hands together in response, then turned around on her heel, leaving you alone.
As you began to question why Taroumaru would join in on the journey to see the festival, you shrugged it off and grabbed the bag of Cryo-preserved chicken bits you bought for the dog from one of the city's shops from out of one of your boxes, and then followed the same direction Ayaka took.
You greeted Thoma and Ayaka with a quick wave, and, as your eyes lit up at the sight of Taroumaru, you leaned down onto the floor and motioned for him to come closer. As the shiba inu followed your command, his tail began to wag as the smell of the chicken hit his nose.
"I told you I'd give you treats whenever I saw you next, didn't I?" you chuckled as you held the piece of chicken in the palm of your hand, and your heart melted as you watched the dog gently pick it up with his mouth.
After Taroumaru had finished the treat, you lightly scratched the bottom of his chin, and, before you had gotten up from the floor, you handed him one last piece of chicken.
Once you were finished watching Taroumaru to make sure he ate the treat safely, you turned around and were startled by the expression on Thoma's face. "Hey! Don't you realize how heartbroken I'd be if Taroumaru ended up loving you more than he did me?"
As he feigned being hurt, you couldn't even hold back your chuckle, and you weren't even sure if you had tried.
"Better prepare for whenever that happens, then."
As Taroumaru started to sniff your hand, expectantly looking up at you in hopes of receiving more chicken, you nudged the dog towards Thoma, and, with a look of pity on your face, handed the blonde the bag.
