As the birds outside of the Kamisato Estate announced the morning's glory in a melody that seemed dreadfully out of tune, as it was being accompanied by the sound of your best friend's voice, you swore the combined trill of the noises was going to cause your head to explode.

Groggily, you placed the fluffy pillow that your head was resting on over your eyes to act as a shield, and you sank further back, deeply thankful that the Kamisatos were rich enough to still have a plethora of comfortable pillows left on the bed. Unfortunately for you, however, the pillow was ultimately gently ripped from your tired grip, exposing your eyes to the harsh rays of sunlight that emitted from the guest bedroom's window. Through a squinted gaze, you saw Ayaka hovering over the bedside.

"Y/N, get up, it's well past morning!" Ayaka pleaded, and you swore this was the most urgent her voice has ever sounded within the last week.

With a groan, you supported yourself up, blinked the dissipating remnants of sleep from your weary eyes and looked at Ayaka through an exhausted gaze, mostly focused on the pillow that the girl held in her grasp, caught in the sensation that it still promised to lull you back into the land of dreams. "Can you please give me that back? I promise I won't fall back to sleep."

Protectively, Ayaka cradled it towards herself, shaking her head with a small chuckle. "No can do, I'm afraid," she paused to rest the pillow alongside the bed, and, as she focused back on you, her frosty gaze glistened with purehearted curiosity. "How did your first meeting with my brother go?"

You winced at her question.

Were you supposed to tell her the truth, or were you supposed to appease her with a fabrication of how you felt about him? There was no way to bring up how horrifically insufferable you found the man without bringing up the dreaded light novel ordeal—something you definitely never wanted to mention in front of Ayaka—so you were, quite honestly, at a loss for words.

Though you knew the risks, as being vague was never your strong suit, you took a deep breath and decided to try it out anyhow. "I didn't have as great of an impression as I hoped."

"Ah... perhaps it was a bit foolish of me to hope that one of my closest friends and my brother would get along on the first try..." the snowy-haired princess mumbled, her expression forlorn as she gazed at the curtains that adorned the room's windows. "What went wrong?"

Awkwardly, you tried to focus on anything but your best friend's seemingly miserable countenance, as you were sure you were going to crack if you did.

"I'm sure it was just an awkward first impression."

Ayaka only glanced at you, pity in her gaze, and sighed before leaving the room, causing your worries to start.

Did she sense that I was covering how I felt?

Did I disappoint her?

Quietly, you took a deep breath, trying your best to not give the rest of your intrusive worries a voice in the matter as you attempted to reassure yourself that they were just thoughts born from barely being awake, and you walked out of your room and into the kitchen.

As soon as you walked through the entranceway, you were immediately met by Thoma enthusiastically handing you a small plate of freshly cooked omurice. The tempting combination of the eggs and rice made your mouth water, however, despite your growing urge to snatch the plate out of his hands without a question to ease your grumbling stomach, you looked at Thoma, puzzled.

Thoma chuckled at the way your eyebrows knitted themselves together in confusion. "You were the first in the kitchen, so you're the first served."

"Ayaka was already up, so how am I the first in the kitchen?" you questioned.
