{◇~3rd person POV:~◇}

Thomas was feeling excited today, he had been thinking about telling his ghost story all morning. He hummed a tune to himself and continued down the line. He thought of all the ways he could end the story. A happy ending? A sad one? A cliffhanger? He wondered, he'd have to decide before tonight because he'd already bragged about it to Percy and Emily. Thomas wondered if it was a good idea to tell the story but that had never stopped him before. Thomas looked at all the scenery around him, gathering inspiration from a few old trees and an abandoned overgrown tire swing hanging in someone's yard.

He looked up at the sky, there were only a few clouds and the sun was still visible. Thomas looked back down at the rails, watching as the sleepers passed by under him. Thomas heard a whistle looked back up, seeing a red signal and Gordon speeding down the line in his direction. Thomas felt his brakes switch on as he shut his eyes tight. "Watch where you're going! The Express stops for no one!" Gordon bellowed as he rushed passed. Thomas sighed with relief and scoffed at Gordon's words, feeling a little alarmed that Gordon didn't try to brake at all. The signal switched to green and Thomas pushed onward, he couldn't stop now or he'd be late.

《Time Skip》

That night in the sheds Thomas told the others to pay attention because he had a scary ghost story to tell. The others listened closely, they all enjoyed a good ghost story but usually it was Edward who told them. Thomas looked at his friends, they all watched with curious eyes. "On one cold night, just like this one, an old engine was sent off to the smelters yard and scrapped." Thomas paused for dramatic effect. "So one night, a little engine who thought the story was fake decided to go looking for the ghost on the anniversary of it's death. He traveled to the smelters yard and looked around...it was completely silent." Thomas continued, his friends listened with pure interest.

"Then, from a nearby siding, a loud creak broke the silence. The creak echoed and came back louder. The little engine shook violently, terrified of what could've made that noise. He crept closer, trying to convince himself that it was only some old matel parts...but then he heard it again, except this time...it sounded more like a whisper." Thomas smirked, knowing the other engines would never catch on. " 'Help...' the old rusty metal groaned, the little engine moved closer carefully. The metal in front of him turned out to be a large rusty and decayed old engine. The engine seemed to reach out to him, whispering and pleading for help." Thomas knew he had the other engines hooked, they had to know what happened next.

"Suddenly... the rusty old engine jumped forward, trying to get at the little engine. The little engine whistled furiously for help but the decaying heap of an engine dragged him closer. Only a loud scream could be heard as the fog set in, and that little engine was never seen again..." Thomas ended ominously. Percy gasped "what happened to him?" He asked, "no one knows...but they say on the day that the little engine was taken, you can still hear him screaming for help and you might even see the engine that took him." Thomas smirked wider, feeling very proud of himself for creating such a spooky story.

"Wow, where did you ever find the inspiration for story like that?" Edward asked, sounding impressed. "A friend of mine told it to me." Thomas lied, he didn't feel too bad about lying that time, he knew he was only protecting his friend. "Well, it was a nice story, but it didn't scare me at all!" Gordon said proudly, though the others could tell he was lying. "Really? You're not scared?" Henry asked with a chuckle. "Oh of course not! Little tank engine tales don't frighten me at all!" Gordon huffed smugly. James was more smug though, he whistled suddenly causing Gordon to scream and back into his shed with fright. "Wow Gordon, you really are very brave." Henry teased him.

Gordon huffed, "both of you better hope I don't find the chance to get you back for that!" He threatened. Thomas laughed watching his friends bicker with each other. He sighed contently and looked back to the sky, he glanced back at his friends. Gordon was still being teased by Henry and James. Thomas smiled and yawned, backing into his shed for a needed rest. He heard Percy's soft snoring next to him just like he always did. He heard Edward calming down the three big engines so they could get their rest as well, though each of them were still trying to get the last word in. Thomas shut his eyes and let his mind pull him away from reality as he drifted off to sleep.
