Aiden was trying to relax, but that was proving difficult with the noises Jasper was making. She feared that he wasn't getting any better, and perhaps he would just die. Trouble was, she couldn't imagine life without him. He'd always just been there. Through everything that she'd been through, he'd always been there to pick her up. No matter what, big or small. And if he didn't start getting better soon, she was going to lose that, and perhaps what was left of who she was. After all he was a huge part of that.
"That damn kid, always messing with my head." Murphy groaned, as his knife bounced off the board.
"He's not gonna last much longer. Better think of a new excuse." Bellamy said, throwing an axe into it. "You okay?"
"Me?" Aiden questioned. "Fine."
"Your lip is bleeding."
"What?" She pressed her fingers to her lip, sighing when they become wet with blood. "Oh my god, not again."
"Maybe you shouldn't be biting down on it so hard."
"No, I know, I just... It's like hell having to listen to him die." She breathed. "I don't know what I'm supposed to do."
"You're mad, huh?"
"Yeah, well... I think you would be too if... Murphy had been struck down by some- some savages."
"Eh. I could take him or leave him."
"Thanks." Murphy scoffed. "What's so special about him anyway? I say we just let him die." Aiden clenched her jaw, any harder and her teeth might've broken. "What's he even down here for? I can't imagine him ever doing literally anything at all."
"He and Monty stole some herbs from the garden, something about drugs or whatever." She shrugged.
"And you?" Bellamy asked, and she looked up from the ground.
"You really wanna know?"
"Yeah."
"I... I killed someone." She said.
"No, you didn't." Murphy laughed. "Like you could kill someone."
"You'd be surprised what you'll do to get out of a bad situation." She muttered.
"You put yourself in lock up... on purpose?"
"Mmm... I was only in there for a month, I think and it was awful but... better."
"Why?"
"I had nothing more to lose so... why not?" Hearing the words come out of her mouth, it was then he realised what had happened to her. A loud scream echoes from out of the dropship, and Aiden rushes inside without another warning.
"What's with that look on your face?" Murphy wondered, narrowing his eyes.
"I've met her before."
"You have?"
"Yeah..."
-----TWO MONTHS AGO-----
It wasn't particularly difficult being a member of the guard up on the Ark. At least, not for the newbies. They tended to handle the tame issues. Bellamy was well into his training at this point, and people would say he'd make a fine soldier. He was patrolling hallways, when he thought he could hear a voice. Like someone was after his attention. It took him a moment to realise that someone was talking through the grate in a door. He approached, barely able to make out a figure.
"Hello?"
"Help me." The voice whispered. It was a girl. Looking back, he recalled that she sounded terrified. But at the time, he hadn't picked up on it.
