Prompt #2.

"I pity you."

((Based around a Female ||Godly|| reader. Lucifer.))

"You never deserved that punishment given unto you."

"Don't you dare pity me, girl."

He spat out with acid.

It was all laced with the hurt of his past. The treatment he had received from his father, any normal person would have the mind to pity him. Even then, his brothers were just as at fault.

"I do, I pity you. But I also mourn for you. I mourn for my best friend. I don't know where he went during my absence."

He looked at her with darkened eyes, clouded by the millions of thoughts he had racing by.

"You never had a choice like I was given. It wasn't your fault. You sacrificed everything. And you certainly aren't faulty."

"Stop. I don't want to hear anymore from you. Just leave."

She looked at his arm, where the mark had once been inscribed into his skin. It has long since faded after he passed it onto Cain. Another poor soul corrupted by the actions of their faulty God.

"I suppose you won't want to see me now. After it is done. After the rapture has taken place, your predestined fight with Michael, and humanity is to fall entirely at your feet?"

"I want you to stay far away from me. This cage isn't good enough, not far enough apart. I don't know what it is, but when you're here everything is more painful than it should be."

She sat up hesitantly, and ran her hand onto the chilly, steel bars containing him.

"I see. Goodbye. I am truly sorry."

"Do not finish that, I've told you already. Leave me to rot, woman."

She withdrew her hand slowly, intertwining it with her other. The bars were sickeningly cold to the touch, despite quite literally being in the furthest reach of Hell.

"I hope to see you again one day. Out of this forsaken cage. I wish for us to be on the same side. I know that won't ever be the case though, will it?"

He withdrew his eyes from her almost glowing ones. It was hope he saw.

"No. Not again."

"I want.."

She paused, unsure how to carry on with explaining her rambling thoughts. She chose to settle on just one of them.

"I do love you, friend. I hope we never have to cross that path. You and I should have seen much better than what is to be offered of this tiny world and it's people."

He didn't reply, and instead only slithered away from her sight within the dimly lit area of his metal prison.

She left, shortly after he hid from her field of vision.

"You truly do wound me, girl. I wish I had the capacity to love you. Maybe even reciprocate your friendship you try so very hard to uphold."

He was left alone within the maddening bars deep in Hell's pits once again. Only the faintest screams of the tortured to accompany him in the dark abyss of agony. He ached to leave, maybe even cross her path for the better this time.

Though he knew that would never happen. He was the big and bad villain of this horror story. And with the people she ran close quarters with, it never would've been possible. He would've gotten her killed. Maybe even by his own hand.

"Foolish to wish, though. Isn't it, dear?"
