It's been a long day at work. You've been working late for the past few days hoping to get that report done for your boss in order to get that promotion you have been wanting for so long.
Will you get the promotion you've been longing for so long? Only time can tell. But for now, you just want to go back to your bed you've been yearning for the whole day, throwing your flesh onto the mattress which might bring you to neverland.
Deep inside your mind, there was one other thing that you had wanted to happen before the weekends. And that is to meet the one you've dated for years, Choi Yena.
Due to her busy schedule as an idol recently, you rarely ever had a proper conversation as it would always get either cut up by her manager telling her to finish her business as soon as possible.
You wished, despite knowing that she might be busy even at the very moment. You can only hope that she'd come back as soon as possible, to spend time with just the two of you.
Just as you turned the door knob, you noticed the lights being on before realizing that there was already another person in your place.
"Ya, what took you so long?!"
It was her.
"Y-Yena? You're- you're home."
"Uh, yeah? Why would I not be? *gasp* don't tell me you forgot that today-"
You know full well what the day was, yet you weren't prepared.
"I know, I know. It's your birthday! Yeah."
"You remembered!" She jumped in joy, as the tired feeling in your body melts away seeing the duck squealing.
You then remembered the gift you had prepared for her, but due to your constant over time, you weren't able to wrap it in time. You decided to just give it to her since she was present, rather than handing it to her late.
You reluctantly gave her the necklace you bought.
"H-Here! Your birthday gift! Sorry that it's not wrapped up as a gift yet. I was sure that you weren't coming here today, so I-"
She chuckled, whilst taking the necklace away from you and saying.
"You don't have to try so hard to come up with a reason, you know. You're gonna make me feel guilty." She turned her back on you, softly telling you to put it on for her, and you did."
"I'm sorry, Yena-ya. I didn't mean to. *sigh* sorry that I didn't prepare much for your birthday. All I have right now is just this."
"Aww, it's okay." She turned to you, looking at the necklace before switching her gaze towards you.
"It's beautiful. Thank you, Y/N. I'm also the one at fault. Thinking back, I have been so busy for the past 2 weeks that we didn't even get to meet each other properly."
"No.. don't say that." The two of you stood silently, looking away from each other before you broke the ice.
"Hug it out?" Her eyes sparkled after she heard you.
"Let's do that." She threw herself into your arms, as you held her tight.
"Happy birthday, Yena-ya."
