~Chapter Eight~

"Northstar, you are under arrest," said a male voice. Northstar looked at the horses and pegasi with eyes full of fear. "For attacking a royal pegasus." Ta'kar growled, his fur rising and standing in a "I will attack you" position. Nova just sat there, in Northstar's wings, her tears falling down and staining her face. Northstar pulled the brown pegasus closer. She thought to herself 'I will protect everyone.'

"You are coming with us." Northstar was breathing faster, her heart was racing. She looked at Ta'kar, who was still growling. She closed her eyes tightly and nodded at the wolf, telling her to attack the flying horse. He folded his ear and pounced on the spotted pegasus, tackling him into the ground and his wings spreading against the grass. "GET OFF ME DOG!!" He shrieked, struggling to get the wolf off. 

Ta'kar dug his claws into his shoulders, just enough that he would bleed a little bit. The other pegasi tried to pry him off the spotted pegasus, while the horses walked towards Northstar and Nova. Northstar couldn't move. All that she wanted to do was protect the scared pegasus. She shot the dark brown horse a death-like glare, then jolted out of the small cave, pushing all the horses out of her path.

She mouthed the words to Ta'kar: "I'll be back for you." Ta'kar looked up, gave her a small smile, and nodded, then turned to attack the rest of the horses and pegasi. Northstar spread her wings and flew, Nova climbing up to her back to stay on there, as she couldn't fly. 

She spread her feathery wings and flew. She flew across the land. All the creatures were in awe of this fantasy creature.

But then..

The pegasus that Northstar did not want to see.

Shadow. 

Shadow flew up in front of Northstar, blocking her path. "Shadow, what do you want now?" She grumbled, making sure Nova was still holding on to her. "Northstar, my sister, I just want-" "Do NOT call me your sister!" Northstar cut him off, her wing scratching the cheek of Shadow. "Northstar, I need to tell you this," he continued, not caring about the blood that's falling down his face. 

"You told Zan'ka to KILL me, and now you want to ARREST me?! What is wrong with you?!" Northstar shrieked, flapping her wings to stay in the air as she did not know she stopped flapping them. "I-I know I did that, but.." Shadow started, taking a deep breath before speaking again. "But, I wanted you to be gone. So that I could be.." 

Northstar's eyes went wide, her ears going back as far as they could. She could hardly breath. She wanted to run away from Shadow, from her family. As he said that, she almost lost balance again.

"I could be king." 

"T-that's impossible!" Northstar stuttered. She wanted to attack Shadow right now, her blood bubbling with hatred and fear. "I also told-" "NO!! NO MORE!!" Northstar flew away from her brother, who almost flew after her, but stopped himself. "Northstar?" Nova asked, sticking her head out to see Northstar. She didn't know what to do. 

"I-I.. I.." She struggled to get the words out. She didn't want to cry. She didn't want to cry in front of her. "Northstar.." Nova said, rubbing her head against Northstar's, causing her cheeks to flush. "It-it's gonna be OK, Northstar." The brown pegasus said, her light pink mane combining with Northstar's black mane. 

Her face, if not her exploding, went even more red. She smiled nervously at the lovely pegasus, knowing that she had feelings for her. She flew down to a river, where they could get a drink. Northstar set her wing down, letting Nova slide off. "Hey, I'm sorry about.. everything that happened there." Northstar admitted, tucking in her wings and bowing her head to hide her nervous eyes. "It's OK, Northstar. I-I know you were looking out for me." Nova said, dipping her snout in the water to drink. 

"I also wanted to tell you.. that.." Northstar couldn't find the words. If she was able to protect her brother all those years ago from their father, surely she was brave enough to tell her crush that she liked her, right? "That.. I-I.." Nova giggled quietly, trying to hide it with her knee. She walked up to the stuttering pegasus. She placed the top of her snout against Northstar's. 

"I love you too, Northstar. Will.. will you be mine?" 

Northstar looked shocked. What would she say? Oh wait. She know exactly what to say.

"Yes. I will, my princess."
