~Chapter Thirteen~

"Why are they saying 'Chosen One?'" Northstar asked, worriedly. "You are our pegasus." Cloudhail said, sounding like a robot. The diamond in her chest started to glow, as did all the other horses and pegasi's gems. Northstar looked up, seeing the trees too dense to fly out. She took a step back, her breath going faster. Then, her ears perked up. "Northstar!" A few voices called out. "Northstar, where are you?" "Ta'kar? Nova?" Northstar said happily, turning her head around to see a wrapped up wolf limping towards Northstar, with Nova helping him.

Northstar tried to glide towards the two, but she felt a wetness on her front and back hooves. She looked down - before falling - to see two snakes with a diamond on their heads, just like the horses and pegasi. She heard a hiss, but not from the snakes. From Cloudhail. "She is our chosen one," Cloudhail hissed, but sounding like a robot at the same time. 

"Northstar!" Was the last thing the black pegasus heard, before feeling one of the snakes bite her ankle and sending the venom everywhere, making her pass out. 

"Wake up, now." A voice growled, making Northstar jolt up. "Where am I? Where's Nova? Where is Ta'kar?" She blurted out, trying to get out, but she felt something pull her back. "I have no idea who any of  those are, but you need to calm down," the same voice said, making Northstar feel more tense. 

She looked to the side, seeing a lion sit next to her. But she had a diamond incrested on her forehead. And dragon wings and a scorpion tail? "I know what you're thinking," she said. "'A manticore? What! I thought those were supposed to be extinct!' Well, guess what? I'm the last of my kind, or I think so." Northstar wasn't really focusing on what the manticore was saying, and was more focusing on the diamond.

She then looked down slowly to see a light-blue diamond inscribed into her chest. Her eyes widened with fear, and her ears were pinned down tightly. She tried to wiggle it off with her wing, but stopped when the manticore put her paw on Northstar's wing. "Do not take that off," The manticore said, with a sharp growl. 

"What is even going on?!" Northstar yelled, fluttering up her wings, sending a few feathers flying about. "First, I got taken away by Cloudhail, then, I wake up in a hospital bed, with a manticore and a diamond on my chest! I just wanna go back home!" "But you are home, Northstar," the winged lioness said, folding in her scaly wings and curling her barbed tail. "You don't need to go back to your boring herd. Your boring 'friends.' You are safe here, in Y'vater." 

Northstar huffed, fluttering her wings more. Her tail whipped around like a lightning bolt, back and forth. "'Y'vater' isn't safe at all! That white pegasus took me away from Nova and Ta'kar! I want to go back to them, now!" She yelled out, trying to fly out again. But the diamond glowed and pushed her back on the bed.

"If you refuse, you'll have to see the councilmen. And no one wants to see them." The manticore said in a menacing voice. Northstar layed back down, tucking in her wings. She wasn't doing that on her own. It felt like something was controlling her. Northstar's eyes widened. The diamond wasn't a piece of jewelry, it was something different.

A diamond.. that could brainwash a whole village.
