Another fighter, Volta Max, slips through. Standing above his table, his supersuit partially obscures his body, obscuring his blonde hair and blue eyes. Calling him a bald plumber would be a slight exaggeration. The plumber himself enters, his gun dangling limply by the handle as if that were some sort of dumb joke. Volta Max claims to have finally reached war, and wants you to join him. Sounds like his bubble will finally be shattered by the end of this sequence. Maybe then he can get a metal splatter cover to cover his bulk instead of the giant sponge head. Maybe then he'll be a more useful fighter, but I doubt it.
Agent One joins the fight as well, so no death waits at the end for the octoling agent. Then once everything settles down, we get to meet the agent to be in the game that I'll be playing, Callie. We see her in her paint room, painting away with her stencil brush. The desk in front of her is covered in splatters and splats of colour. Her scrappy pigtails are bouncing back and forth as she glares at you for a moment. You can tell from the short sentence she speaks that her accent is southern. Very southern, no doubt pulled from her excellent dialect instructor. Callie is the one true recurring character in Splatoon, outside of the gear. We will only see her this time, as you don't see any rogue agents in the first two games, but even that is exciting. If you do end up making it to war, then you may get to play as her, hopefully in more maps and later in the game when she grows more unique. In some parts of the stage, if you're near the camera, then you may not see her. If you're still close to the camera, then you may not even know she's near you until you grab a stick and go hunting for red ink. We've seen her on the cover already, so at least her painting area will be recognizable as her signature. She is the first challenger that will turn you into a splatling. Some people think that starting splatlings may be the game's single biggest flaw. Then Callie comes along, right on time. Most bosses are difficult enough for octoling alone, having to dodge ink streams while rotating and crawling around the map. Some of these battles will go through multiple battles before you can finally scale them. As the game becomes more prevalent though, she'll likely be removed for real threats.Further up the road is the original Splatoon hero, Octoling Max. The paintlings cannot go out like this, but perhaps once you hit war, then they'll be splatlings like everyone else. Only time will tell. Anyway, Callie is rubbing her eyes and stretching before going out, dressed in her regal paint suit. The octoling's other arm disappears into the white fabric, creating a striking image. At the moment, the octoling form can only be taken on for fun, since splatling at full speed is impossible at this point. We may find out though, as Splatoon takes on a new meaning, one that would not be complete without a pair of tits and male body parts on display for the entire world to enjoy.Agent 4 awaits at the next door, more splattering paint for his monstrous octoling head. We don't get much at all, just a quick clip where Callie greets him happily while running around like her usual sweaty self. Agent 4 doesn't appear much, but splattering paint is clearly their thing. There's no point splitting in different directions when they can all end up splatting. If you weren't on fire from being splatted, then Agent 4 was probably splatting you. This scene serves nothing, but perhaps Callie is telling him to spread the gore more. Perhaps Agent 4 is actually turning on Callie, splattering her face off after she attacks and gives up too easily. This may be the end of Splatoon, if this is all actually happening. As Callie finishes her set, she leaves the stage. We see war rearing ahead, but as far as I know, war doesn't go away. This may be where we see death do something, but instead we hear callie's voice over the loudspeaker saying "hooray splatting". Splatting is used during war as a reward for finishing on low health or when there are too many players for one team. If you're splatted, you can win big and have that sadistic paint splatling finish you off. At the beginning of each war, callie leaves a sign where players can stand, paying their dues by remaining in that zone until everyone has turned. This rewards players for occupying an empty space, but many players seem to hate paying a water gun tribute to some vicious paintsling, not least because it gives the feeling that they're at the bottom of the Splatoon food chain. With no challenge, but also no risk, the reward is a massive win to the painted invaders. Is this what the end of Splatoon is? War is over and while there may be safe zones on certain stages, every map is likely a war zone. Splat wars will last as long as you can keep everyone's paint filled to 90, which may go on indefinitely. Splatlings will find some splatwar areas, while others may be fleeting and repopulate naturally over time. Some arenas might be permanent, like Splatoon's harbor. There's also still war for the zoned, but that's further along in the journey. For now, war has drawn to an end, with Callie filling up her map and expecting everyone else to die. She's already finished painting the walls with herself so you know she'll be staying.Of course, this is just a rumor. Callie could be in war for a long time, or she could only have been in war for a short time. At any rate, we'll see more of Callie in Splatoon at the end of the week, looking confident and ready to kick some ass. This may only be one possible ending though, and some fans may want some more. There may be a call to play another round, one splat, one call, maybe even a call for someone to join in with the whole splattering thing. Who knows? Maybe this call will be the call to take more.
