"Okay Todd. Because this is a musical I need to hear you sing." The two of us are outside and getting ready for our audition next week. But I had to know if Todd could sing. He nods and finds one of the songs. He reads the sheet music. He fidgets then starts singing, perfectly on key. My jaw drops in astonishment. How does he do that without a piano playing in the background. He finished the song and I clap. "Where can I learn to do that?" He chuckles, looks at the ground and start unearthing a rock from the dirt. "My brother knows how to play the piano and my parents hate the fact that I can't so Jeffery taught me how to read sheet music and stuff. I also learned that I have perfect pitch. But my parents don't care about that." I am still in shock. "Anyway, you need to sing now." My heart drops to my ass because there was no way in gods green earth that I would be able to sing after hearing how amazing Todd's voice is. "Nope not right now."
"What! That's not fair! I sang for you." I chuckle and start to walk away. He takes my hand and pulls me back gently, he glances around, pulls me by my waist and kisses my lips."Alright gentlemen, that's it for today." Mr Keating excuses our class and Todd is just starting to put his things away. He does this late because he doesn't like walking in large groups of people. Mr Keating walks over to us, hands in his pockets and a slight smile pulling at the corners of his mouth. "Boys, I would like to have a quick chat with you..." Todd's eyes shoot up and I shift the weight on my feet. "I would like you to know that I saw the two of you kiss yesterday in the courtyard. I am so happy for the both of you. But I must tell you to be careful. You could get kicked out of the school if anyone sees you and tells Dr. Nolan." Todd and I nod in unison. "Thank you sir." He smiles and gives us a kind wink. "Now shoo. You two have some homework to get finished."
As we walk through the halls back to our dorm, Todd's face is beet red. "You alright Todd?" He looks at me as if he's nervous but I've known him long enough to know that he's just being Todd Anderson. "Yea I'm okay. Are you?" I nod and chuckle. He takes my hand gently and opens the door to our dorm. He turns around glances everywhere, pulls me by my waist and kisses me gently. He pulls away and smiles. I close the door behind me. He rummages through the pile of books on his desk and pulls out a piece of paper. After a few minutes he hands me an origami butterfly. "Here you go." He says with a smile. I grab some double sided tape and stick the gift to my wall. Next to the note that Mr. Keating left me the day that I got back. I tell him that I love it and he glows red.
