I looked around in fear. Everyone else seemed to also be on a similar wavelength to me as they all bore perplexed expressions on their faces. Why... why me? I thought to myself. Why was I the only one who had to separate from the rest of the group?
"Well, what are you waiting for?" Ryoto was the first person to nonchalantly perk up. "Go on in! We won't know what we have to do until you leave."
Narrowing his eyes at Ryoto, Hiroto was quick to scoff at him. "We shouldn't just force her into the room. Who knows if there's some kind of danger waiting for her on the other side!"
Like a trap, huh? A thought like that didn't even cross my mind. If anything, I felt more scared now than I was at the beginning of this game. Ugh, do I really have to do this...?
"What do you wanna do, (Y/N)?" Taro asked.
Truthfully I didn't want to go inside. But at the same time, I knew I couldn't exactly refuse either. If I did, then it would count as forfeiting which would result in a game over for everyone. So with a sigh, I rubbed my temples in frustration.
"Look, it's fine. Maybe the next challenge won't be so bad." I said, trying to desperately convince myself to believe in my own lies.
With a slow nod, Taro opened the door before me. Sucking in a deep breath I straightened up my posture as Daisuke loosened his grip on me. I turned to give everyone one last nod in reassurance before slowly making my way inside the room.
Upon entering the fuchsia-themed room, the door behind me automatically closed. In a panic, I went to try to open it again, but to no avail, it remained tightly shut.
It seems like I'm really expected to just silently wait here. Ugh, couldn't it have at least been a room that wasn't such an eyesore? Seriously, you couldn't describe it as anything less than tacky.
As I made my way toward the pink double bed that stood center of the room, I found myself swaying to the side as I took a seat. No way, is this a waterbed??? It just continues to get tackier by the second...
"(Y/N), you will shortly be joined by another participant." The intercom suddenly spoke up.
Hmm, just one? I wonder who it'll be...?
And wouldn't you know, no more than a few seconds later, I was given the answer to my burning question.
"Natsume?"
As Natsume made his way inside the room, he nervously scratched his head before averting his gaze from mine completely. "You're going to hate this game." He said.
Tilting my head to the side, I narrowed my eyes before crossing my arms and legs together. "Oh really? And why's that?" I asked sternly.
Once Natsume was standing awkwardly before me, he swallowed a gulp before continuing. "Before I answer that question, I should probably apologize first."
Taking a seat beside me, the bed started to wobble once more. "I got carried away back there and lost control of myself."
Yeah, no kidding. He was definitely out of line. For someone who initially claimed to care about me, he sure did switch up when he didn't get the attention he wanted for more than two seconds!
"It was really uncool of me to try and bite you like that. I'm not normally a jealous person..." Looking up from under his long lashes, Natsume gave me a look of pure sincerity. "So I'm really sorry for doing that. The last thing I'd want is for you to start hating me."
With a long sigh, I leaned back into the bed with outstretched arms before languidly rolling my neck. "There's no way I could ever hate you, Natsume." I gave him a playful jab to the arm before smiling. "You're like my best friend. So apology accepted."
