Where was he?
Euna raced out of her class, clutching her school bag tightly to her chest. She needed to tell him or else she would regret it.
She skidded into a stop. There he was! He was alone, placing his things back into his locker before he left for lunch.
Tell him now or else you'll never get a chance to ever again.
Euna looked around and sighed with relief. Thankfully, the hallway was empty. She took a deep breath. It was now or never.
Her heart pounded in her chest as she took tiny steps forward, as if it wanted to escape from her ribcage. She could feel her hands sweat intensely. It's going to be alright, she had to tell herself constantly. Right?
She wondered how he would react. Would he be happy? Annoyed? Angry? She didn't know at all. After all, it had been 5 months since Euna had talked to him and even longer since she hangout with him.
Nervously, she walked towards her (former?) best friend, trying to keep a straight face. Somehow, he hadn't taken notice of her. Yet.
His back was turned against her as she approached him. How should she greet him? Should she say hey? Poke gently at his back? Wait for him to turn around and then start a conversation with him?
She was no less than 4 feet away from him now. Using her left hand to hold her school bag, Euna's right hand slowly reached out to poke him, to alert him of her presence but before she could, a loud voice from another hallway yelled, "Taehyun? Are you done yet?"
Euna quickly pulled back her hand and quickly pretended to be walking past him. Taehyun whirled around and noticed Euna walking past him. He flashed a bright smile at her, leaving her no choice but to plaster a fake smile on her face as well.
"Almost! Give me a minute!" he called to his friend. Euna hastily walked away from him until she entered another hallway. When she was out of sight, she sighed and slid down, sitting back to back against the lockers.
"I lost my chance," she murmured, her hands burying her face. Euna sniffed and wiped her face with her sleeve. She raised her head to the bright lights on the ceiling.
"How come this always happens to me?" she whispered to no one but herself. A sad smile wormed its way onto her face as she tucked her hair behind her ear.
Small tears trickled down her pale cheeks, imbibed by her cheeks. Loose strands of hair that had somehow escaped, stuck onto her cheeks like magnets. It didn't matter to Euna if she looked horrible, she just wanted to cry in peace.
Time crawled away from her grasp. Lunch was ending soon and as much as she just wanted to cry, Euna didn't want anyone to see her like this. Weak. Pathetic. That's what they'll call her.
She rubbed her face and stood up. Hopefully, no one could tell she was crying.
Euna lifted her face, tilting her head back. "It's fine. Life will be okay." she tried to console herself but she knew she was just lying to herself.
Life wouldn't be okay at all. She was losing time.
