The next day was the day before the concert. The members were up early since they had a meeting before they took off for practice. Johnny and Ten arrived separately and, as usual, Ten decided to sit in a corner far from the group. Initially he had the intention to apologize to Johnny, but his friend seemed in a bad mood. Ten couldn't help but blame himself once again.

- Okay guys, I come bearing good news. The manager called earlier and told me we could take the night off since we did some overtime yesterday. - All the members started clapping, they were desperate to have a night off while in Chicago. - For now we can just go for a walk around town and then maybe we can meet up for some drinks. I spotted a bar downtown. - Taeyong announced and approached some of the members to check on them.

The last time Ten drank around Johnny the situation got out of control. They were alone in his condo and Ten started loosening up. Johnny was gathering his things when Taeyong grabbed his arm so they would face each other. - What is wrong with you? We're in your hometown and instead of being focused you seem somewhere else. - Taeyong had been observing Johnny since they arrived in Chicago and he knew something was up.

- It's nothing Tae, I'm just nervous because my parents will be there. That's all. - He avoided eye contact because Taeyong knew him like the palm of his hand.

- Johnny you can lie to the rest of the members but not me. I know there is some tension between Ten and you, everyone noticed during yesterday's practice. Whatever it is you have going on, just talk it out. You can't keep hiding it forever. - Taeyong was a strict leader, but if anyone knew the struggles of their members that was him.

- Hiding? What do you mean? - Johnny felt the blood leave his face and his hands started trembling.

- John, I know more than you think. I will not go into details, but if you want something you should go for it. There is no point in suppressing your feelings. And if you're worried about us, don't. We're your family and we will do nothing but support you. - Taeyong knew that Johnny had been hiding his feelings for Ten for months now and it was already affecting his performance in the group.

- I don't know Tae. I think Ten only sees me as a brother and I can't risk losing him. We've been through a lot and confessing my feelings would just separate us even more. -

- And what if the feeling is mutual and he is waiting for you to make the first move? None of you will ever know if you don't try. - Taeyong patted Johnny in the shoulder and grabbed his bag, ready to leave.

Johnny was left alone with his thoughts. He had spent days thinking about them seeing each other in Chicago and how he had to face Ten after such a long time. His condo held so many memories of them together; Ten spent nights over when he felt depressed, Johnny introduced him to his family and they shared so many special moments. Remembering all these things made Johnny soft and he almost built the courage to confess to Ten, but his insecurities always won. For now, he would let this topic aside and try to enjoy his night out with the boys but he knew Ten couldn't handle his liquor.
