chapter 14

I flushed ... I did not know how to react

''Hey ! I'm sorry it was completely inappropriate . I shouldn't have said that '' Harry's grip loosened around my wrist and the nervousness could be seen in his stature .

I started walking again by his side not knowing what to say or how to react . How could zayn just publicize our kiss . What on earth made him tell it to Harry . He knows him well enough how could he trust such a guy ?

Obviously Harry said it intentionally . Why was I even thinking that he could be nice to me . He has always hated me , always been mean to me and maybe he came along so that he could play his trump card and make me feel worse . I felt crushed , I felt as if my head could burst any moment .

''Here we are ! that's your place '' Harry suddenly had my attention .

We were standing on the opposite side of the street in front of my house , I didn't know how we got there I was probably lost in my train of thoughts . But the park is about 30 mins away from my house , so were we walking silently all along , Harry actually brought me home safely and that too when I was completely lost in my own world . I could not process anything , is he good or is he bad . I suddenly looked at him not being able to believe if it was him , the person who has been the meanest to me in the past few days.

He looked uncomfortable under my gaze and gestured asking if I was okay . I did not respond , actually I could not respond . My face felt weak , as if I couldn't even twitch a muscle to give him a reassuring expression .

Harry's brow tensed ."Selena are you okay ? Listen I'm really sorry I shouldn't have said that , it was spontaneous I just wanted to start a conversation to divert your mind and I messed up , I am not good at making people feel better. Its all my fault please speak up .'' He seemed worried , It was an honest confession . He obviously did not know how to make people feel better , infact he has masters in just the opposite making them feel worse . But what mattered was that he was putting in efforts to make me feel better . I wanted to give him a subtle smile but could not respond because I was incapable of reassuring him so I started crossing the road absentmindedly , I just wanted to hug mom and cry as hard as I could .

Suddenly I heard a loud horn , when I turned a beam of light pierced my eyes and my hands went up to cover them as a reflex.

''SELENA !!! '' an alarming voice pinched my ears and someone pulled me aside holding my elbow while the car brushed past me . I opened my eyes with a lot of effort and there he was Harry . His big green eyes fuming with anger '' Are you fucking crazy ? Are you out of your mind . Who asked you to cross the road . How old are you do you even know safety rules ? IDIOT ''

I gained my conscious and hugged him suddenly , taking him by surprise .Tears began to roll down my cheeks , I sobbed with my head on his chest my forehead resting on his sternum and my arms holding him as tightly as they could . After a moment he hugged me back his arms encasing me , I felt relieved I could stay like that for hours in his embrace . It was alien yet so soothing , so warm .

'' You need a drink , I'l drop you later '' Harry declared finally breaking the hug and holding me by my shoulders .

'' No'' I said abruptly '' Im fine , Im so sorry I shouldn't have hugged you it was.... inappropriate .'' I shrugged wipping off my tears .

''Selena its alright I know you got the hots for me '' he winked at me . It was obviously an effort to make me smile, which did succeed and his face registered relief .

''Thankyou , I hope I did not spoil your jacket '' I did not know what was I thanking him for , making me feel worse by confessing he knows about the kiss or better by holding me in his embrace .

''Don't bother I was going to throw it anyway '' He smirked removing his hands from my shoulders . '' Is there any club nearby I have a fake ID il get you a drink .'' He winked .

'' No I am fine , I don't need a drink Il just go home '' after a brief silence I continued '' If you want a drink Il take you to a nearby club ''I said trying not brushing him away .

''Haha Madam ! I dont drink '' He eyed me amused by my surprised face which was still draped in the remains of my tears .

'' You! out of all the people I know don't drink . It can't be true .'' I couldn't contain my disbelief .

'' Hold it lady , I am not that bad a person you take me to be . Plus I don't drink because I don't like it '' after having said what he wanted to he looked left and then right as if he was teaching me the same and started crossing the road holding my hand this time .

'' I just hope it does not turn out to be a bet and you actually helped me there '' I said when we were standing in front of my house to which he laughed .

Suddenly the door of my house opened and mom came rushing down the stone staircase as if she was expecting someone .

'' Harry ! Selena ! oh I don't have time for greetings right now Im so sorry I have to go its urgent . Harry you have to stay till I come back son okay ? '' my mom appeared to be in such a hurry that she did not even notice my red nose and swollen eyes .

''Aaa.. sure Mrs. Gomez '' Harry replied politely hiding me behind him .

My mom smiled , got in her car and drove off .

''What ? Why did you hide me and mom did not even see me, like seriously '' I was so disappointed .

'' Selena lets get inside . I hid you 'cause your mom seemed in a hurry , obviously it would have been something important and if she saw you this way she would have got worried . '' Harry explained

I followed him inside my own house and it was then that realisation hit me

'' Wait a minute ! you brought me home , but how did you know my address and .. and how do you know my mom and how does she know you '' It was weird as Harry has never visited my place before .

'' Happy realization Einstein ! '' Harry exclaimed and then continued '' I told you Zayn sent me searching for you so obviously he gave me your address but when I reached here to my relief your mom told me you weren't home . I obviously didn't want to meet you , I just came here because of mine and zayn's agreement . And then when I went to the park for some Ice cream you bumped into me but you looked completely lost so I followed you and then you dropped on the ground and started crying which got me worried and the rest you know . Few ! '' He closed his eyes as if he got tired of saying it all .

'' Agreement ? What agreement ? '' I asked .

'' Miss Einstein out of all the thesis that I just said you understood just the ' agreement ' part " He wore a disgusted expression .

'' No out of all the thesis that you said I DID NOT get the agreement part ''

'' hmm ! its not worth it . But this reminds me I want some Ice cream ''

'' umm ! I think we have some , it might be in the fridge '' I said pointing in the direction of it .

'' Okay i'l help myself , mean while you go freshen up . You should look 'good' weird not 'weird' weird '' he smirked at me and I rolled my eyes at him .
