Sleep with one eye open

Finally

Penelope's POV-

When I woke up, I saw my family. Reid, JJ, Hotch, Rossi, Emily, my sister-in-law, my beautiful niece Laura, and my amazing husband. They were all crowding around, looking at me with tears rolling down their cheeks. Laura gave me a kiss and Derek next. Hugs were exchanged between me and everyone else, I still couldn't move much, so everyone had to bend down to hug me. After a few hours of hugging, crying, laughing, and just being happy, they all left except for Derek. He stayed with me all night. Every once in a while I would wake up and see him staring back at me. I wondered what he was thinking, so I asked him.
"Just thinking of how wonderful it is knowing you're going to wake up tomorrow morning." He said in his tired voice.
"Yeah, it's a wonderful thing." I said jokingly. He came over by my bed and kissed me for what seemed like an hour, but it was only a few minutes. I asked him to move me over so he can lay up on the bed with me, so he did and we fell asleep like that. The next morning came, and so did everyone else. I couldn't help but smile when I saw all of their beautiful faces coming into my room.
Everyone sat around my bed, the nurses brought in extra chairs and we all talked about what I've missed.. Again... It hasn't been much, and then somehow we got into talking about how happy I was that Miles was finally gone. I didn't have to live in fear anymore. No more constant pain of knowing he was out there. And better yet.... No more sleeping with one eye open.
