My life has been going great recently.
I get to enjoy being a girl.
But then I got a cold hard slap in the face.
It all happened on that day.
It starts out pretty normal, at least.
Until I'm forced to remember how life works.

But for real, I don't wanna wear that again.
It's a male day today.
As I walked out into the kitchen, I saw a note on my breakfast. My mom was nowhere to be seen.
The note said :
"Oops! Me and your dad are leaving the country to try to catch a convict!"
"Good luck at school! - Love, Mom."
This isn't the first time this has happened, normally they take me with them, but I don't mind, my mom probably just wanted to give me more time to get used to school. Last time was over summer. So I just ate breakfast and didn't think too much of it.
"Hey, Loiv."
"Hey, Mari."
I ended up meeting her right after I got off the bus.
"You mind, uh, following me?"
"You wanna ask me out or something?"
"Haha... Something like that."
That's strange, she had a sort of sad smile on her face. I followed her anyways, waving off Jared.
"So, uh..." She was twisting her foot on the ground.
"What's up?"
"My sister kind of... Killed my parents?"
...
...
"Pfft. HAHAHAHAHA! No. Wait what?"
She just nodded.
"Wait." My face went to concern. "You are, joking, right?"
"Nope."
What!?
"Wait, really? Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, I knew that girl was weird."
She says that but I could see bags under her eyes.
"Wait, so why are you telling me this? Is your sister in jail?"
"No, she fled the country."
No way. That's why my parents left this morning, huh?
I exhaled. "Okay, so uh, that's um. Sad. I guess." I felt kind of strange.
"So why are you telling me this?"
"Well..."
She clapped her hands together and bowed her head.
"PLEASE LET ME STAY AT YOUR PLACE!"
"Shshsh." I put a finger up to her lips.
"I'm a dude, you seriously wanna live with a dude?"
"You're kinda like... The only person I talk to?"
"Really? No female friends?"
She shook her head. "Plus, you're the only one I really feel comfortable around."
"Okay... Uh... Sure, you can stay over for a while... I guess."
"Thanks a lot, Loiv." She bowed her head again.
