Ava's P.O.V.
Despite the blade pressed against my throat, I couldn't help the smile that crept to my face. "Wow, can't even recognize your best friend huh?" "What are you talking about? My best friend is Ava. I don't know what you're thinking." The blade moved ever so slightly away, "I swear to God Carson this is Ava!" "How did you know my name?"
I breathed a sigh, this might take a while. "I know everything about you. Especially considering the fact that I AM AVA!!!!" Still not truly believing Carson had to say, "Prove it then. If you know me prove it." "Ok fine Mr. I Don't Recognize My Best Friend. What do I have to do?"
He paused, and I could tell he was trying to think of the hardest possible question. "If you really are Ava, you'd know what you have to do." Ugh he couldn't be serious! Oh don't worry I knew what I had to do, I just couldn't believe it. I took a deep breath, and prepared myself for the embarrassment that was about to follow. I barely whispered, "cause' I should have bought you flowers, and held your hand. Should of given you all of my hours, when I had the chance." As I grew more confident I started to sing, "taken you to every party cause' all you wanted to do was dance. But now my baby's dancing with another man."
All I heard was silence. I don't even think he was breathing, so I hurried and started the song from the beginning. "Same bed but it feels just a little bit bigger now. Our song on the radio but it don't sound the same. When our friends talk about you all it does is just tear me down. Cause my heart breaks a little when I hear your name."
The blade falls to the ground. "Carson?" I ask, worry threaded in my voice. "Keep going. Please." Honestly I'm surprised that he wants me to keep singing. I'm not very good, but I still take another breath. "And it all just sounds liked ew ew ew ew ew. Too young, to dumb, to realize that I should have bought you flowers, and held you hand. Should have given you all of my hours, when I had the chance. Taken you to every party cause all you wanted to do was dance."
All of a sudden Carson spun me around, so that I was facing him. Then, he started to sing the rest of the song. It may sound odd, but he used to sing all the time in class. I had never been so happy in all of my life to hear him sing. That's how I knew that he knew it was really me. I'm the one who smiled when he sang, the one who smiled when his voice broke on the high notes. I'm the one who thought to myself, "that's my best friend." I wouldn't trade him for anyone else.
"I missed you. I absolutely hate that school."
He pulled me into a hug, "I know Ava, I'm sorry. You don't know how boring school's been without you."
"Haha thanks Carson."
"Come on we'd better be going. Ummmmmm where are we going again."
"Someplace they'll never expect us to go."
"I'm gonna say um one more time. Ummmmmm where is that exactly."
"Well it will just be a pit stop, but we're going home."
