Waking up from cryo had to be the weirdest thing I will ever go through. It was like being solidified in concrete and then thrown into the arctic. I was pulled out by a man in a white suit and led to a pole for me to hold on to. I stretched as best that I could given my peramiters. Eventually I was led when they got the rest of the passengers awake and ready to be placed on the main part of the ship. We showered, ate and when we had more normal gravaty, we stretched out. After 6 years you tend to get pretty stiff. I went to the bathroom to see if I had changed at all, in 6 years a lot can happen. I smiled to see that nothing had changed.
I instantly ran to find Norm as soon as I could walk. We ran into each other as soon as I rounded the corner. I smiled and hugged him, it was 6 years after not seeing my best friend. He and Tom were the only ones that never made fun of me for the way my hair was. When they called me Snow, they did it fondly not maliciously. I couldn't believe it when Tom died, it felt like losing my mom all over again. He was one of the few people that really helped me feel less alone when I opened up about my mother passing. So to lose him too, it really hurt. I thankfully still had Norm, and if he dies, I dont even want to know what I would do. Give up probably, I shook my head slightly and smiled. I need to focas on the now, not even 10 minutes from now, just the right now, so thats what I was going to do.
"Hey Snow! How ya feeling?" He asked, then slowly let me go. I smiled up at him, he was over a full head taller than I was. "I'm doing great! How about you?" I respond. He smiled and told me the same thing that I told him. "Hey I heard a rumor that your Avatar is ready." He whispered in my ear. "What?!" I shrieked. "Are you serious?" I ask much more calmy this time. "Yeah, They heard that she was for the daughter of the colonel, so they made sure to have her ready for when you got here." He said smiling. I smiled for a little bit then I thought about Norm's Avatar. "Do you know when yours will be done?" I ask him. "He should be ready in about a year." He said still smiling. "Now dont you even start thinking that you're going to wait a year before you fully link up and take her out for a spin Kodiak. I want you to link and be happy for the both of us for this year." He said puffing his chest out, and making his voice deeper. I smiled knowing what he was doing. "At least, that's what Tom would say." He said relaxing his chest and talking normally.
We shared a small smile and hugged each other again. Thinking about him not being here still hurt a little but we were going to get though it. "Fine," I said sighing, knowing that he was 100% right. "Well you want to go and see her?" I ask already knowing his answer. He turned to me like I was crazy. "Are you kidding?! Hell yes I want to see her." I smiled. We started running to where they were maturing the Avatars. I was looking at the names on the edge of the tanks for which one was mine, I thought this was going to take forever.
Norm slapped my arm gently and pointed to the other end of the room. "I dont think that you need to read the names Kodi, look. I looked to where he was pointing at. I saw, the most beautiful Avatar ever. She had long bright white hair, that matched mine, she was slightly closer to the ends of the glass than the others were, showing that she was a little but taller than all of the others. She of course had my same slim build. The lovely blue and sky blue stripes, the braid, the white luminescent flecks making her look like her own personal galaxy. Her soft kicks and jerks in the tank. I started to cry, she was me and I was her. We were that beautiful. I felt the tears fall down my face, and a couple warm hands placed on my shoulders. One larger, on my right side, the side that Norm was on. The other was smaller and on my left. I turned my head to see Grace Augestine. "Beautiful, isn't she,- arent you?" She said looking down to smile at me. I wiped my tears and nodded while smiling. "Yes she is." I said, "Why do you only say she? She is you. You are her. You both are that beautiful." She said kindly. I nodded and smiled.
I had been in touch with her for a while now, since she knew my father. She always loved me like a daughter, and I loved her like a second mother. Norm gently moved his arm back to his side, and Grace pulled me into her side. I put my arm around her and squeezed gently. I look up at her with smile and slight mischievious glint in my eye. "When can I link?"
