The moment the blob of paint emitted by Broomie touched the water, it spread and took the form of a large black puddle, which Ink immediately passed through.
One last check-up of all his favorite AUs in solo before seeing all his friends again, that's what he was planning to do. But as to where to begin... He figured he'd just do it the old way, through hazard.
An interesting detail to know about Ink, was that the first thing he perceived of AUs, was colors. He had learned to recognize the primary colors of each AU, and through these color palettes, he just needed to think of one to immediately access the corresponding universe. For example, Undersail, which he had just left, was associated in his mind to yellow-ish white for the sand, and sky-like azure for the tropical waters.
Undertale came in black and sepia. The main universe was just following its script as usual in its many timelines (Ink preferred not to think too much about the... interesting Alternate Timelines which sometimes occurred). Coming here always felt like a return to the roots, a simple and lively place where everyone could feel at home. As always, Ink remained hidden to avoid being seen.
Various blues and a bright yellow, this was Outertale of course. But there was also the bright white stars, the rainbow nebulas, the orange black holes... It was troubling when you thought about it. This very calm and peaceful AUs was also often visited by powerful out-codes which exploited the its width and various asteroids and other floating objects to rest and take a break, and when two of these met... ouch. That's why it was never rare to have, somewhere in this harmonious place, a raging fight between two gods. But the incodes ignored all of this of course.
White and purplish black... Nevermind. Grey and brown however, was quite reminiscent of Birdtale, its high mountains, its large unforested grasslands, with tall trees to perch here and there, the strong winds which allowed you to fly at extreme speeds (assuming you had wings of course). The skeleton simply remained on the ground, sometimes making high jumps form one point to another by using paint to propel himself.
Ink had now gotten into the games, and was trying to remember what other universes had strong color palettes like these. Of course ! he thought. Negatale, with its iconic black and dark blue style. Immediately he teleported to this universe... and let his jaw drop when he saw what was in front of him.
Surely it wasn't the right AU ! But he could feel it, this was Negatale. But what had happened ?! Everything was only composed of different shades of gray, but it shouldn't be ! Granted, this universe was never very colorful, but this... this was something else, a modification into the code itself. Ink was sure of it... this was the work of an outcode.
