"That's enough, bruh, let him go."
"Nah, fuck that. Bitch! You been stealin' from me!"
I grabbed the back of O's drenched shirt, trying to pull him off of Darius as he lay cold, drenched in his own blood. It was in the middle of a thunderstorm, and Darius and O were in the middle of an alleyway fighting.
Normally, I wouldn't let two friends fight, but Darius had been doing some sneaky shit the past year and Ohaji had been fed up with it. We were really supposed to just sit down and talk shit out like the grown men that we were, but both of them fools got a slick mouth and one thing led to another.
I turned my head as O kept pounding that man's face.
"Aight, chill man." I sighed, "He got the message."
"I should kill this bitch ass nigga." He glanced down at Darius, "We supposed to be brotha's bruh! I look out for yo ass and you gon steal from me! You had yo partnas rob my fuckin' store, and you ain't think yo ass would get caught huh?"
Darius covered his face from all the rain hulking down, he coughed up more blood and turned on his side. I took a good look at him and he looked bad. The crazy part about it was that Darius actually held up a pretty good fight. However, O was much bigger and faster and he wasn't holding back.
Ohaji kicked at the nearest dumpster and kicked Darius in the leg. I grabbed his shirt again and shook my head.
"Go cool off bruh, it's done."
"Man fuck y'all." He walked off, walking towards the car we had parked a few ways down. I watched O for a bit and when he was out of my sight, I bent down before Darius and helped him to his feet.
"Karma's a bitch," I shook my head, "You alright?"
"Fuck y'all," He spat blood onto the ground, tiredly trying to keep his balance, "That nigga ain't no fuckin' friend of mine and you ain't either."
"That's cool but if it wasn't for me bein' here, you would've met yo maker today." I showed him the gun I confiscated from O, letting him know that O could've done a lot worse had I not been here to mediate.
"I don't give a fuck. That's what pussy niggas do."
I shook my head and just looked at his ass. He could barely stand on his own and had the nerve to still be talking shit. Nigga think he Captain America or something but I knew he ain't have another fight in him.
Soaked from all the rain, I tossed my duffle over my shoulder and walked down the alley without a care in the world.
"That nigga gon be yo downfall," Darius yelled. His comment caused me to stop in my tracks and I started to respond, but something in me told me to just head home because I knew Ari was waiting up for me.
For some reason, I couldn't shake that comment.
"You good?" I hopped in the passenger seat after walking a few blocks down and looked at O as he looked straight ahead.
"Why you ain't let me kill him?"
"Cause that ain't you." I thought back to what Ariana said, it would've just been bad for everybody involved if I were to let that happen. "Karma's real bruh, you know that. So don't trip, that nigga gon get his eventually."
I woke up from sleep looking for Ariana but she wasn't there. The room was cold and dark and Jackie was sound asleep. I turned to face the wall and sighed.
I don't know why I kept having that dream.
Lately, I've been having night sweats, occasional vomiting from all the anxiety, and coming down with a cold. Usually, I wasn't the type to get anxious because I was always calm about everything, even the scariest shit. But lately, my mind was all over the place and there wasn't really anyone in here that cared that much to notice.
