After a quick tour of the palace, and a fast peek at the Mask of Deception (the one we're tasked with protecting), we Ninja resorted to searching the palace grounds. Spreading out, we slipped over rooftops and around buildings, making sure no sign of the Sons of Garmadon was found. I was doing a survey of the main corridors, when I heard a voice from down the hall. As I expected, it was Jay.

"Mm, mmm!" It sounded like he was eating something. "Are you sure you don't want any?" He said, rather loudly, might I add. I speed-walked down the hallway, assuming he was at the buffet. "This cake is delicious!"

After a moment of silence came the reply, "Ah! No! My body is a temple." Cole. He chanted the phrase as if it was a song, reminding himself of the vow he made.

The three Ninja and the buffet table finally came into view. "Jay, stop torturing the poor man," I scolded as I approached, and the masters of lightning, earth, and ice turned to face me. "You know it's already hard for him as it is." I gave Cole a teasing smile, who rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, yeah." Jay shoved another cake into his mouth. "Well, the buffet is clear of any threats," he put his hands on his hips, examining the food around him, "and they're out of bologna."

Zane, still caught up on previous events, spoke up. "Can we discuss now what is a party pooper?" He pronounced the term slowly, trying to get every syllable.

I muffled a snort, and Cole sighed heavily, gesturing to the Blue Ninja. "Jay's upset, I'm the responsible one." His voice tinted a little sad. "With Master Wu gone, someone has to keep us in check." I placed a comforting hand on his bicep, which he acknowledged with a quick smile to me.

Zane grinned, "In that case, you are correct. You are responsible." He stalked away, patting Cole's shoulder. "It is nice to have a pooper at the party." That sent both Jay and I into laughing fits. When Cole trained an unamused eye on me, I tried to hide my giggles with my hand. Jay stumbled forward, catching himself on Cole's figure, and started wheezing.

Cole rolled his eyes. "It wasn't even that funny!"

I wiped at a tear that had come with the laughing. "It kind of was."

The view of Ninjago City from the palace roof was unparalleled. Except for, perhaps, the view from Borg Tower, but you didn't see the city like this from all the way up there. With the neon signs and all the street lights reflecting off the canals, the ferry boats serenely paddling on. The Ninjago City citizens were bustling about, on their way home from a late night at work, or traveling to the nearby club to meet their friends.
