Chapter 10: Love And Family Is Everything

Narrative Pov.

Ten years have passed ever since Jimmy was arrested. Y/N and Porsha got married a few years after they graduated from high school. At some point, the lawyers and the board of directors of Crystal Entertainment concluded to make both Y/N and Porsha the new proprietors of the business as Jimmy, although Y/N didn't seem fit to accept such a proposal and instead directed all ownership to Porsha. Despite persisting that he was not in any position to accept, Porsha still made Y/N vice president, a position Y/N was willing to take, but he would never accept himself as CEO since the business should be run by the heiress, which is Porsha. Y/N's parents still visit from time to time, and while Y/N is happy about it Porsha is the one who is more thrilled as having affectionate in-laws was better than having a father who abused her and a mother she never knew. Things however took a dark turn as news came up that Jimmy died from a heart attack in prison, and it took some time to get over it but Y/N and Porsha still managed.

Y/N's Pov.

"Alright is it ready?" I ask after we finished setting up the karaoke machine in the middle of the living room. "Yep!" Porsha tipped, jolting a bit after switching the karaoke machine on. "Alright, ready to get karaoke night started?" I ask Porsha as I hand her a microphone, "Absolutely! Are your parents gonna be here soon? I want to get this party started!" She said, her body buzzing with enthusiasm as she fidgeted on the screen of the karaoke machine on which song we should sing.

"Yeah, they should be here soon...oh shit! They're here already!" I said, quickly gasping upon seeing my parent's car pull up and park right outside of our house. "Holy crap! Alright, act casual Porsha." Porsha said to herself, pulling her shirt down and neatly patting it down to remove any wrinkles. "P, relax!" I said, still feeling a bit uncomfortable about how much Porsha was trying to impress my parents. "I know! I know it's just..." She stopped, and I quickly remembered why she keeps trying to impress them even though they accept her for who she is.

"I know, I know..." Porsha said, brushing her hair as our parents walked through the door. "Ma! Pa! Glad you could make it! I'm so happy to see you guys!" I exclaim, racing to my parents and hugging them both. "Hey, son! Good to see you too!" My dad said and I turned to my mom and hug her too. "Hey, ma! How you've been?" I ask my mom and she giggled, hugging me back. "Oh, I've been doing just fine dear!" My mom responds before she gasps, overlooking my shoulder. "Oh hello, Porsha!!" My mom exclaims as she runs to her, opening her arms and embracing her.

"How's my daughter-in-law doing?" My mom asks with a loving giggle, and Porsha smiled and hugged her, "Oh I've been doing great!" Porsha said, my dad went to her and hugged her as well. "Hey, how are you, Mr.Hill?" Porsha said and my dad laughed, "Oh I've been doing great Porsha!" He exclaimed, lightly patting her on the back as we all got ready for Karaoke night.

"Alright! P, which one you wanna do?" I ask Porsha as we both crouch to face the karaoke machine's screen. "Oh! How about this one? I always used to love singing this one!" Porsha exclaimed as she pointed at the song on the menu.

"Sure! Let's go with that one then!" I said, wanting to let Porsha decide what song she wanted to sing since I wasn't very good at choosing songs to sing myself. "Let's do this!" I mumble to her as we both stop up on a little platform we placed in the living room as our parents sat on the couch clapping as any supportive parents would.

"Alright, here it goes!" I exclaim as the song already started and I can tell Porsha was both nervous and excited.

Her tail wagging was her excitement but her ears drooping and legs twitching. I place a hand on her shoulder and offer a reassuring smile, and this must have eased her character down as she wasn't as nervous as she was a second ago. "You want to go first?" I ask her and she nodded as she turned to face the karaoke machine's screen which displayed the lyrics that slowly rose from the bottom and moved to the top.
